I'm not sure if anyone read the thread, but I had a leave pass coming my way for either last weekend or the weekend previous. At that stage the tides looked very dubious for the first weekend according to my forming theory on which tides work in the Pine River but like a kid with a lolly I couldn't help myself. So off I went to wade Hayes and Saltwater Creek with a bloke I know, Martin, with predictable results not a touch for 6 hours of throwing soft plastics. Talk about bummed out, although we did see some great features and fantastic flathead lies. While walking we talked some and formulated a slightly improved plan of attack for the next weekends new moon tide phase.

During the week I worked on the "love of my life" to get another leave pass as the tides looked soooooooo much better, with predictable results not a touch. Apparently a hair dressers appointment and lunch with the girls and shopping is soooooooooo much better, bugger!!!!

With Saturday committed to work and Sunday committed to looking after the little bloke life was looking fairly grim on the fishing front. Talked with a few people I knew and everyone was getting out there, Martin hit Hayes again Sat. to test the upgraded plan of attack. He rang in the afternoon to check in, not to see if I could get out, just to make sure I was still in the office,"I'll see you soon he tells me."

Fifteen minutes later he pulls up to show me the two fish he kept for a feed, the plan worked and he had brained it getting some good fish on sp's. While I'm jealously looking at the two flatties, my phone rings and suprise, suprise it's Brandon H he's just getting started for the day one bream and a 61cm flathead in the boat and recorded for posterity with the camera (hopefully he'll post some piccy's today :)).

That was me gone, I couldn't walk for fear of tripping over my bottom lip. :( :( Any way here's Martin's household dinner both around 50cm for the record.

As hard as I tried I couldn't even score the afternoon off on Sunday to try and catch up with Brandon for a late run. The hugs and kisses wouldn't commit to a time she would be home at. Around 4.30 - 5.00 the missus got home and the little bloke settled in for the afternoon snooze so I bolted down the Pine near Petrie to try out a fishy spot that hasn't worked on sp's yet. Had a slight change of approach and bingo got some results, I got the camera out of the car for the last fish and some snaps of the area. Photo 1 is to the leftor upstream and phot 2 is to the right or downstream. Fast water run out into a deep hole with a big back eddie. Photo 3 is a c and r flattie who should be getting some sweet loving over the next few full moons. (I think it's nearly that time of the year????) ;) ;) ;)

Nice work on the photos Kev ;) Looks like a real nice spot to have a flick Shayne!! We will have to give it a go there one arvo! I have been thinking about getting dad's canoe up that way for awhile now, might have to do it with things heating up ;)

I Wondered Hayes Sunday arvo for one rat Flathead :'( would have been around 3 hours work :-[ only thing that sorta made it worthwhile was a glance of a bully jumping clear out of the water!! It’s the 3rd one I have seen jump and the first in hayes. The others were in the pine.

I have asked the mate I took out Saturday to send me his pics but he hasn't yet >:( As soon as i get them they will be up mate ;) That 61cm job was actually the only flathead we got!! But we did get 2 little cod, the second one was about 30cm long and actually snagged my mates Manns Stretch +10 when he hit it!! Luckily he came back out :) for some reason my mate decided to have a chuck way out in the middle, I was thinking why??? No flathead out there :-X. I watched him crank crank then bang Sh$T!! This thing took about 20metres of 10lb braid on its first run!! But it wasn't long before the Taylor jump and we knew what it was.. Only surprise was that it measured 44cms :o its the biggest taylor I have seen this far up the pine we would have been easy 1k from the road bridge. Report to come hopefully not too late :(

Cheers
Brandon...
