If you took this on a fly I saw you catch it, if not you should try the areas of the old Carrara flood plain now residential with locks & weirs to regulate the water levels ????????

one of the greatest things about these boards is the altruistic attitude of those who post. They PAY FORWARD rather than pay back.

Its not written in the rules but like all worthy moral codes its subtle and only maintained by attention of those who value it. Its OK for fish2eat to remind a relative newcomer of a moral code that he values - there is no denying he is right - although deals are done in secret, they are usually between people who have engaged in discussions on the boards.

Also, imagine if the likes of Webby only passed on his knowledge to someone who could match it. ::)

I'm with Stu, give a bit before you take. Pay it Forward.

By the way it is a nice tailor, Geoff; they are spectacular when they hit surface lures & anything you have to offer on your methods, time of day etc, tides and the like (without giving away your secret spot) would be no doubt appreciated by those who have never come near catching a fish of its quality.

cheers mate hope to see more reports.

What is going on down your way Scott? Have heard 2 reports from Nth Straddie of 4kg tailor on spinners at Cylinders a few weeks ago and pros with a net full of 6kg fish a couple of weeks ago. But that's it. Are you too busy to get out and hunt?
The tailor of course are still going past all SEQ beaches atm on a northern migration. We still have about 6 weeks of greenbacks full of roe before it starts to taper here and less than that further south and longer at Fraser. But then we have large choppers with some better fish until christmas when the large schools of aggressive greenbacks arrive from the north. It is pretty well the end of April before they disappear and we get the crossover of the last south bound small greenbacks with the first of the northbound choppers. In my opinion the greatest intensities of large greenbacks occurs here in Jan/Feb (later further south) but can last until the end of April if we have floods.
So that means we have at least 7 months of the tailor season to go on all SEQ beaches with 5 months of what most people consider to be the season having already gone.
Was interesting Stu that I have seen at least 10 instances of tailor spawning over the last few weeks, but saw absolutely no sign of tailor in the bays between Indian and Waddy where they would be particularly visible if they were there due to calmer conditions. In fact over the 32 years that I have been going to Fraser, I have rarely seen them spawn there. I have my own beliefs as to why this may be the case, but it certainly brings into question the validity of the closure and then the impact of netting from Ngkala north.
Am heading to Hawthorne tomorrow Stu if you are in need of the metal you mentioned. Has been blowing a solid 30 knots here for days and a fair bit of rain and looks like more south easters after this one. A clean Fraser for the next month is now a distinct possibility. Surf Snipers' dance to the weather gods may have been answered. Bit of bad luck if the next trip is offshore from 1770 - thanks Drew. >:(
