Just spent another week up Fraser but unlike the week before there was no boat and the family aboard. Spent a little bit of time beach fishing Waddy point area and the Cape area. The cape produced nice Tarwine and dart but the birds were a pain and you had to hold the bait in your hand unitl you quickly had a cast otherwise they would soon attack it. Only fished an hour or so early mornings at Waddy for some good tailor and had some great fun. I rarely get a chance to beach fish so it was a good change and i was happy to score my best ever tailor of 3.08kg 68cm and many close to it. Lost an an estimated 5kg one right in the shallow wash after a good 5 minute or longer fight but pulled the hooks right at the last minute. Bugger but thats fishing. Plenty of qaulity fish being caught up there at the moment with most in one area all over 1kg fish.

Cheers Greg

Top work greg. Always good to get a bit of variety. You must get sick of seeing big reds all the time. Bout time you jumped aboard the HMAS XXXX and chased some creek reds. Cheers Keith

Well done Greg. Those are quality tailor and look real healthy too. I can relate to the annoying bord problems because I managed to hook one of the silly things a few years ago. It swooped on the bait and managed to get it and try flying off with it but it became entangled in the line. I ended up dragging the disgruntled bird through the surf and had Scalem assist me in untangling it. When it was free we then let it fly off only to witness a friggin eagle swoop down from nowhere and it was touch and go for a little while but the seabird made good its escape. I thought it was a doomed bird for sure. ;D You did real good there. Congrats! :)

Excellent photo of good tailor Greg.

Nice to know the quality has improved north of Waddy as they had been mostly small til now.

I think Jackash would probably have been drooling on reading your post and I suspect it's going to be a long week at work for him now. ;D

Does have an atmosphere about it hey. Sometimes that atmosphere is a little hazy and blurred and walking surfaces more uneven than they look, but yes, it is always fun.
Might be some decent weather coming in for a while by the looks too.

We came up with a few slogans Jackash but that was the only one we could use publicly. Did Mossops take care of you mate?

Nice size greenbacks you got there ;D
I was fortunate enough to spend the first 2 weeks of Sep on Fraser also, spent a lot of time fishing between the pinnacles and dundaburra on the eastern beach. It seems the quality of fish this year is very good. Just about everyone I spoke to got their PB tailor. My best for the trip was only a mere 64cm, but i was stocked!!! :). Seen another pulled up the beach beside me which measured 70cm........it was a monster. Great fun, there's something about beach fishing in those conditions that bring you back time and time again. The weather the second week wasn't the best but still plenty of fish caught. Anyone heading up there should do well at the moment.
