Well sitting here on my ar$e after having a knee reco. just last week and cant sleep so thought i would finally get around to writing a report from the 14th. After finishing exams, good mate Bedi and I made the trip to noosa for some much needed hours on the water. Arrived too late to get in an arvo session so eagerly got up at 4am in search of big Trevors on poppers and that adrenaline rush that had been lingering in our minds all term. I was suprised how many people where out on the water on a morning week day as holidays hadnt started. Casted and retrieved for a good hour before saw first sign of some surface action. We landed few small chopper tailor and a little Big Eye (trevally). A quick glance over my shoulder as i cast, and out of the corner of my eye i saw a surge of baitfish dance across the surface only to be engulfed by what looked like a big Trev. As i frantically wound in, Bedi was lucky enough to have just finished his cast and he hit the spot, one pop, two pop and then ZZZZZZZ. His Storm Jug Bug popper was smashed and as the fish peeled off line we knew it had some size. When we heard the familiar rattle of the popper near the boat and saw some colour, we knew that the fight was coming to an end. A good 10 minute tussle and a beautiful big GT was in the boat and Bedi was stoked. A few snaps and the Trev was released. Well done mate! The action died off after this as the rain pelted down. Took the boat out only to return 4 hours later and went straight to the sandbanks. Caught a few small duskies and then asked if a switch of rods may be the trick. Grabbed Bedi's set up and cast out his atomic 4' Jerkbait, twitch, twitch and then lifted up and felt a heavy wait. Knew it was a good fladdy and also knew that with 6lb leader i must have pinned him in the side of the mouth. This flathead had some incredible runs, taking meters of line and i thought it was going to be a Pb, but didnt work out that way and after the longest fight iv ever had with a flathead, around 10 minutes, i dragged up a fat 70cm specimen. Took some snaps, removed the lure which was further down its mouth than expected and released her. The rain set in once again, didnt get a chance to wait till sunset and have another go with the poppers. Great trip, was just fantastic to get out on the water and with two pretty reasonable fish caught and released i was happy to return home.

Happy Hols to All.
Regards, Danny.

Yeh cheers guys.

Fisher4life- Mate, only got four weeks left of us school forever after these hols and will be racking up the hours weekly on the water once uni comes around, but was definately worth the trip and well deserved after finishing exams.

Gregdeeth- No better feeling then gettin smashed when your poppering and everytime i fish at noosa with them, it seems a fast retrieve is definately more affective than few pops and then a pause. The flathead at noosa also surpise me, everytime i have targeted them with softies on the sandbanks good results have been achieved. Just gota wait for the current to slow down and fish the deeper water. Atomic 4' jerbaits on 1/8 jighead have been deadly.

Thanx for the replies guys.

We didnt measure the trevor, took some snaps and then released it, but it was pretty solid and one of the better trevs we've got at noosa on poppers. The trevs, tailor and queenies when there about love the storm jug bugs. These seem to be alot more affective than other poppers and when the water turns clear, a change to a owner popper in see through colour (dont know the real name) has been really successful possibly because the trevors think it is a prawn.

Cheers, Dan
