amanda and i got up at 2:30 am had a quick shower, hooked up the boat and we were off,we dropped in at colmslie at around 4:30 am and headed out to the river mouth,we flicked some plastics around the river mouth for about 15-20 mins but had no luck,we then met MICHAELG from this forum and his mate in his bright green 4.1 poly, michael dropped his pots near mud and then said he was heading to the 4 beacons but i decided to stay around mud incase the weather blew up,i asked him where the reef was around mud as this was the first time amanda and i had fished there in my boat,he told me where to find reef and off he went,i cruised around for a while and found some reef on the sounder that looked decent,so we killed the engine and out went the sp's,a few casts later and amanda was onto something it wasnt huge but she was happy to boat her first squire on sp,it measured in at 29 cm and went back to grow bigger,i then decided to change my plastic to a pumpkinseed colour as thats what amanda was using,a fair few casts later and i finally got a small squire which i didnt even measure cos it was so small, apart from that amanda got a small grass sweetlip (ID NEEDED ON THAT) and we both got a grinner, after that it went quiet and just as we were leaving we met another ausfish member called "wags on the water",on the run back into the river i almost shit myself when a tug boat going full steam put out a massive wake around 2-3 metres high and my poly got chucked around a bit, anyway it was good to get out for a fish and the weather was great, just a shame the esky was empty.

cheers tim ;)

Well done Tim. Pity no quality fish were taken. On the other hand it must be great to ahve the Mrs along for a fish anytime.
I wish mine was as keen. Keep up the efforts champ.

Well it still is always nice to get out there and you are lucky to have a partner that likes to fish as well. The thing with fishing is that there will always be trips that weren't really worth the effort and then there are days where you bag out and catch your PB. That's just fishing I guess. Just keep heading out and one day you'll be rewarded. ;)

I was at mud on thursday morning and there wasnt much doing then either, did manage to hook up a 150 $ fine for not having flares on board though, which was funny coz i did have flares the last time i looked but some kid or somebody wanted them more and i ended up with the fine, anyway mud was quite, im going to try those easterly sloping banks on green next week.

Tim,

I've also noticed that the tug boats can push huge wakes, and then the big boats sometimes pass by without hardly a ripple.

Tim, Amanda,

Looks like you caught more fish than me today, although being on the water is good enough for me.
It was nice to meet you both and hope to catch up with a few more ausfishers when i'm home again.

Nice going Tim and Amanda ,how is the poly going on the bay?
George

hey george the poly is not too bad in the bay when its calm but when the chop picks up the person sitting at the front cops a sore back, thats why im thinking about upgrading to a 4.55 frontrunner

did you end up getting that 4.55 frontrunner you were looking at ???

cheers tim :)

It was a good day to be on the water no matter what Tim. I'm sure you both had a great time. In relation to ID, I am sure it is a grassy.

Cheers
