hi guys.. yeah.. me again fishing the GC canals again.. finished my exams and had to destress..well i shouldnt allow myself too cos i think i din do that well after all.. but wat the heck.. my hands are itching an even when writing the paper, my mind was thinking of SPs and jigs in the tackle bag...

so we were there at night again sadly, we had to squueze that time out.. we needed wednesday for the books...some fishing better than no fishing.....
fished the usual hideouts.. and yeah produced some fish.. not the fantastic bite after bite but still good fish...

the worse thing happened.. first... 10 mins into the fishing.. i was casting at a jetty, wasnt too happy with my cast so i juz reel it back in as fast as i could(so it was skipping along the surface).. u noe wat i mean.. then.. suddenly, swoosh.. a big black shadow came from behind the SP and swiped at it.. but missed...
i got a shock and my heart was pumping!!
that was a could have been Trev but more likely a Mmangrove jack!!!!

later.. like few hrs into the fishing, i was juz sick of the bream so i switched over to this 8 cm popper.. on bream gear...2lbs crystal and 4 lbs leader...!! just to muck ard.. din think i would get anything on popper anywaz...
then i was casting at this bridge pylon... wind.. pop.. wind pop... then there was ripples behind the lure... i tot it was made by the popper.. then suddenly, like wat happened b4, swooshed.. and i saw a big mouth gulping the popper down and next thing i noe... the reel was screeeching and it ran between the pylons, made a turn and bang.. cut me off....
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my hands were shaking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
some of u will understand wat i mean when the adrenalin pumps...
knocked myself on the head... y cant i juz switch spools... that could have been the jack!!!
no silver flashes.. dun think its a trev...
it was a loner.....!!!
ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh
anywaz.. i have alll the time til the next paper to day dream of this could have beeen jack....all the wat ifs again....

BTW .. can some one guide me on how to target the jacks and the trevs in the nerang GC canals.....not after ur hotspots.. but juz a general direction as to where they hang out...
i noe where bream and flathead hide so... yeah... help me out.. an the type of lures..../Sp....

thanks man..
some fotos...

peter if u are reading this.... can u tell me when are u working.. cos everytime when we head in to look for u at the shop... u are always off.... need ur advice man!!!

Bundo... I think you know where jack lives ;) He's the one sporting a new set of popper shaped earrings. ;D ;D Just keep targeting those bridge pylons mate - thats probably the most reliable place for you... and rock bars and rock walls... you know what you're doing just beef up the gear a bit and you'll get them.

Thanks for the report.

Sounds like a good sesh mate. Bad luck on the jacks but going by the number of them getting caught atm I'm sure you'll get another chance.
Good report
Cheers

I braved the rain and hit the canals yesterday. Fished from a bridge and caught 6 bream, 4 of them legal.

I have caught jacks in those canals, but when I hook something REALLY big it is usually a
stingray.

Would be awesome to live within walking distance of those canals because then I could drink beer while fishing them. If I fish myself, I can usually only have one beer because I have to drive home.
