Long time member but first post due to the fact I had to sell the boat to pay for a wedding. The things we go thru for marriage.
Anyway went up to Double Island for a couple of days with Dad and some mates from work. Blew a fairly strong North Easter for the whole trip and the fishing was pretty slow. Dad bagged a couple of Choppersand Bream and I put a few Whiting and Tarwhine in the esky. Caught thousands of small Dart which relieved the boredom but nothing of any quality.
No pictures of the fish but added a picture of a brand new Triton that rolled in front of our camp. Four young blokes with no idea of beach driving doing fishtails all the way along the beach at a fairly high speed. We saw it all unfold and when they rolled it twice we thought we would be pulling bodies out. Fortunately no-one was hurt which was a miracle and after we pulled the ute up past high water mark we left them to thumb their way to Noosa. Knobs like this give all four wheel drivers a bad name.
All the tracks were very passable and didn't even let the tyres down. From the Leisha track to Rainbow is only drivable about an hour either side of low tide.

This is looking from the Leisha track towards Rainbow on the calm side at dead low foe anyone venturing to D.I. in the near future. the rocks at Rainbow were no dramas to get around.

Is it rude to say sucked it??? I wish that sort of action would happen to the jetskiers who act that way (as long as no-one gets hurt) - oh yeah and the big cruiser drivers that try to swamp small boats in the broadwater ;D ;D Is Karma great or what!!! :D

Thanks for sharing!!

Not the first truck i have seen come unstuck up there.

Good noboby got hurt. If it continues the "law makers" will surely have a look at whats going on. The rest of us will suffer as a result of some knee jerk political decision. It takes a few idiots to mess it up for the fellas who wanna wet a line and have beer.

No weed as such but there was a clear sticky sh#t that would get stuck to the line and end up getting caught in the runners when you cast. It also gets caught in the hairs on the legs and hurts like hell getting off. I used my knife to cut them out. I have new found respect for women who wax!!!!

Here's a pic from the grassy knoll on the point looking south. We go there every year when the fishing is slow with a couple of beers and watch the dolphins. turtles and sometimes a whale of two. Lookin at the pics makes me wonder why we came home!!!!

That be snot weed Rusty. It has been a bit of a problem for a couple of months now at times and has been some years in spring as far back as I can remember to the early 70s. Seems as if the spring south easters bring it on which we haven't had in recent years until now. Of course if we didn't have these south easters then we would have the hincksia weed along the beach by now. When the northerlies kick in, then the snot weed deposits on the beach and gets buried and the hincksia comes down from Fraser.

It looks like there will be speed limit changes put in place along Teewah Beach fairly soon - perhaps before chrissie. At this stage it will be 50kph from the river mouth to the northern perimeter of Teewah Village. Then it will be 80kph through to the Noosa and Cooloola Shire boundary where the camping starts and then back to 50kph to Inskip Point. They are not set in stone just yet, but this is most likely to go through.

Lindsay i hope the speed limit comes in who wants to be in a hurry anyway lets enjoy the view .People must not realize how kids dont see the beach as a highway someone will be killed by a speeding driver

Couldn't agree more Smailesy. Having been here for so long and one who uses the beach daily, I see a lot of stuff that needs to be controlled. I would be affected more than just about anyone with reduced speed limits in place, as the beach is the only way to and from home. But I am in favour of the new limits. One problem that will remain for us at Teewah though, is that it takes a lot of people a fair while to slow down when heading south from the 80 zone, and they are still at speed when they go past Teewah where people are congregated on the beach. Extra policing is also prophesised - lets hope that is the case and at times when they are actually needed.

The saying around here is that 'people leave their brains on the other side of the river.' There is definitely some truth in it.

I hope the law catches up with the idiots that rolled the Triton , hopefully keep them off the beaches for good.
on the fishing side , how was the water , was ther any weed around ? I am hoping to go up there for a few days before the end of November.
