View Full Version : Northern Bay Mac fishing

Just a quick report.

Went to the northern end of the bay for some Mac fishing. trolled for the begining of the morning, waiting for the tide to slow to do some float lineing.

Not much happening on the sounder, after trolling for about two hours we only saw one bait school. Very little bait around guys. We got one spot on the troll.

Now that the tide was slowing we, my brother and I, went to our spot and started to float line hopeing that the mac would come on durring this time of the turn. Got Three doggies and dropped more than we landed. thay were around but wern't willing to commit to the deck of our boat.

As soon as the tide started going again the action stoped and it was time to come home.

Hmmm, I can see a mac on the decks of my kayak this year. :D

Nice Mac's Biff,
I was up that way on Monday, came home with 4 good schoolies :), had a dolphin hanging around as usual, but this one has worked out how to take my hooked fish & leave me just the head, happened twice.. :'( :'(

When your trolling round for mackerel in the bay what sort of lures are use using? just wondering, got some rapala lures to give a go round the 7inch mark in red head and pilchard colour! reckon they'll work? Plan'n on workn round the shipping channel and mud. any info appreciated!
