Garrett, myself and my wife Tonia left wynnum ramp about 6 this morning and out behind Green for a spinning session. Took about 10 minutes of searching the paddock till we came across our first school of fish feeding the surface . THen we had a solid three hours of catch and release and also kept enough for a feed. Huge amounts of bait with tailor, schoolies and others gorgeing themselves. we cast slugs continously and had countless hookups . Dropped heaps as well but it was a great session. the young bloke and the wife had the bigger spinning reels and left me with the smaller reel . Without the speed to really crank those slugs i found the schoolies were making short work of engulfing my lures and cleanly slicing my leaders. About 4 slugs went missing but considering the amount we landed i suppose it wasn;t that bad. endless numbers of tailor with heaps of small schoolies . first picture is typical undersized mackeral that we were releasing. Second picture is of nine tailor and 1 schoolie that we kept, which gave us a couple of family meals . Third picture blew me away :o :o fish busting up in a mad frency and i fire a slug into the school and bang the 4 kg is humming . After about 10 minutes and a solid slog with some strong runs , I know this isn't a long tail or mackeral. Its just not playing the game correctly and then it busts the surface about 60 meters out . i'm not going to call this but its not a bad fish .Another 10 minutes and i have colour and up comes a Whaler with the slug neatly pinned in the corner of his mouth. First time i've had pinned a shark while high speed spinning. any way we all had a great play session with easy 30 tailor, 6 mackeral and one whaler and home by 10 am with a beautiful bay and light breeze , and number 1 deckie back on the tiller ;D ;D

Nice work

I had the same experience as horse...travelled all over the shop on the same day for 1 school of bonito feeding near Harry's....rest of the place was dead which was a pity cause it was a nice day out.
