Arrived shortly after 5:00 am at Fisherman Island boat ramp. Here we came across the first idiot of the day who was bogged on the ramp. :-? Well it was basically low tide and he dropped the trailer wheel off the end of the ramp. Can happen to anyone. We rigged the boat and while waiting our turn, the second idiot of the day drove strait past the que and stoped at the boat ramp to rig his boat. >:(

So we had to wait for idiot 2, to launch while idiot 1 and his mate in another 4x4 was trying desperately to free the bogged trailer. Finally it was our turn, while idiot 1 was breaking strap after strap. :o We managed to launch without any further incident, only to find the grass carpark was closed and I had to park my vehicle next to the rail line. :-/

It was a beautiful day on the water. Spotted some baitfish near the measured mile getting smashed by mackerels, got the TSS4 ready, positioned the boat and before I could manage the first cast, two boats came rushing in from the beacons, drove straight onto the school with lures flying everywhere. >:( >:( So the school disappeared thanks to my third encounter with a bunch of idiots.

Worked a few more schools, unfortunately without any success and went to Moreton for breakfast while we waited for high tide. 8-) Shortly before high tide we went to Curtain, got a good burley trail going and watched the kids keeping themselves occupied catching whiptails. The wifey got smashed by something big which cut her off on the wrecks, and then I caught my first fish in my own boat. :)

Wile hanging around at curtain, the peace was disturbed by another boat whose anchor got caught. While trying to dislodge the anchor the bloke ended up very close to a Haines Hunter. In an effort not to nudge the Haines the bloke to our amusement, somehow landed himself in the drink ;D and nudged the Haines :o. A bit of entertainment for the day.

Well not much was happening early afternoon and the wind was picking up. So up with the anchor. I was on anchor duty and it was my son’s turn to skip us home. While making my way around the cabin, my foot slipped and I ended up in the drink – IDIOT no 5. :-[ ;D ;D

It was truly a great day on the water.

Does anyone ID this fish for me please?

Batfish, thanks for that guys. Had a look on the web and found a spadefish that looked very similar...

Kev, I got it on a humble pilchard.

Idiot number 6 helped themselves to my trailer box caps at the same ramp :(

Those sorts of days are only occasional, or I would be selling the boat!!

Good day was had eh Visarend :)
Some days the idiots add to the day. Other days they're just a pain in the butt.

Luckily for you a couple of the idiots you encountered gave you some amusement.

Sadly for Brian they're purely pain in the butt.....Now Brian, go and get a gallon tin of grease and hide the new trailer in grease and then go for a drive up the dirtiest road you can find. No-ones going to touch your brand-spanking new trailer then ;)

PS are the box caps the covers they bung in the ends of the RHS? If so your better off without them anyways. Easier to shove the hose up the RHS to flush the salt out :)

Scalem, sorry to hear that. Were you parked up the road towards the rail line or did it happen in the parking area?

V, I was parked in on the western edge of the car park. Scottie, that's not a bad suggestion, and I was that fussy with my new trailer that I had taken the end caps off and sprayed fish oil down there. But the end caps had predrilled holes, allowing water to escape when pulling the boat out. By leaving them off, it looks a little ugly because that's where the wiring to the lights is. No big deal I know, but they could have waited long enough for it to get over its newness. It cheeses me off!!!!! >:(

Finga, you know how long I have laboured and whinged about my old trailer - ages. Saved our pennys, even put renovations of the pergola on hold so I could afford the new trailer. Just as well they took a small and insignificant part off it, but it still cheeses me off!!!

wouldn`t it be nice to catch them in the act! anyways karma always catches up and they`ll get their just deserts ;)
just a quick question about fishing curtain as I`m getting a bit adventurous in the 4.45 tinnie and want give curtain a go; so when anchoring do you anchor right on the artificial with a reef pick so if need be you can still pull it up even if you straighten out a few of the claws cause I would think the old sand anchor would be odds on to become a new part of the artificial if I were to use it?

You are thinking ahead, and you would be right about the kind of anchor to use. I saw a mate use a coral anchor which was still too heavy guage for the size boat he has. It was very hard to get off, and he had to get a bigger boat to help pull it off the reef. Keep the lighter guage prongs so they will straighen under pressure. ;) I don't like fishing at curtain personally, the current rips through, and there's only small bite periods as the tide eases coming up to the change. If I were to go that distance, I know a top spot somewhere in the Pearl channel which has proven its worth. There's many other spots I would rather than the curtain, and less public.
