Hey all,
Sunday My dad and I got out the front of Clontarf about 5:30am for a plastics bash at some squire. Well we didn't land any Squire and only boated one fish for the morning :-[ We even had a couple of pillies floating out the back for a couple of hours :-/ The one and only fish was a nice 45cm Black spot estuary cod ;) He went quite hard on the bream gear and had me thinking for a bit that it was a squire :D Caught on a 3inch watermelon powerbait. Pics of him will be posted latter when I get them off my dad ;)
Saturday Morning we started a little latter hitting the water at 6:30am with my Girlfriend on board for a nice change ;D :P We headed a fair way up and stopped for a flick at the same snag i got my 2 GT's from a couple of months ago. Zoe had a big hit on a white pillie but didn't manage to set the hook :'( The plakies didn't even get a nudge after 20mins so moved future up than I have fished for quite a few months. We set anchor here for awhile so the bait could get a decent soaking while my dad and I flicked around the many snags near where we were. It wasn't long before Zoe hooked a little cod (she was happy, its the biggest one she has landed b4 :)) then 2 casts in a row I manage to miss 2 good hits on the same plakie I was using the day before >:( Zoe ends up landing 2 undersized bream, 2 catfish and dad got a monster Toadfish after getting chomped a couple of times ::) At this stage we decided to move on and give another likely stretch a go. About 5 mins in dad hooks a pretty mosses about 20cm long on a pumpkinseed stickbait. a few snags down I got a big hit drifting my plakie under a branch in the water and managed to land my biggest Bream on plastics this year :D measured 34cms :D just after the photo I threw the same plakie under the tree branch behind me in the pic.... 10 seconds later whack!! Another hook up ;D ;D Was thinking another bream all the way to the boat but ended up being a 42cm Dusky ;) Had to take this shot myself as the others where soo keen to try and get another fish they couldn't take the shot ::) #:P #;D ;D
After this we didn't get another fish on plastic but had a bit of fun with some average bream and one small flathead under the bridge with the left over bait ;) We were thinking outa the sun and away from the ski boats >:( but.... One Di$k towing a skier comes flat tac under the bridge less than 10m from 2 other boats [smiley=rifle.gif] We left shortly afterwards.
