G'day all,
Went down to my fav. spot to have a spin for a tailor or two just on daylight. My mate and I have been getting the odd one here and there but not in any numbers, but of good size, nothing to write home about but good enough to knock a few fillets off for a feed to keep the cook and my self feed. Well this morning the swell had dropped a bit and things look promising for a feed. How Hastings has sanded up so much that one could almost walk around the rocks at low tide :'(. Well after a million flicks I finally got a hit but missed the hook up oh well next time. A million more flicks and I'm on woohoo.... This thing took off like a steam train and I knew it was not a Tailor (or if it was a bloody big one) , then I though a small jew??? maybe but on slug??? No it was only a Trev.but boy don't they go.well that's all we got this morning and my mate's Mrs eye's lit up when I gave it to her as I know she enjoys to chew on the trev's

Mate the best tip I can give you or anyone else wanting to fish Hastings is to stand on the head land in the middle of the day and have a good look at the rock/reef formations to plan you plan of attact first. There is a lot of reef there and you WILL loose a lot of gear if you are not careful. I personally only spin for Tailoe with sluggs or hard bodies for jews, but I know there is some good bream to be had aswell a good varity of other fish. but check it out first. Over the school holidays it gets every crowded there

Thanks for the tip, I should check in on these posts more often when I ask questions :-[

I am camping at the big 4 so I will do as you suggest.. last Christmas the surf gutters seemed very quiet - I only saw a few breambo being caught.

Cheers

If you go down to the Head land early morning and see a light blue falcon and 2 fat blokes on the rocks (one with a grey bushy beard)) come over and say G'day
