Fished the Barron River Bridge @ Stratford this morning from around 3:50am through to about 8:00am.
Bait was scarce for the cast net; I managed to get about 7 decent sized sardines and one 40cm Barramundi that was thrown back (no sense in tempting fate with fisheries re the closed season plus an undersize fish - it just isn't worth it).
A Japanese guy got two grunter, one that looked a bit undersize (went in his bag anyway) and a nice size one that looked about 2lb using shelled prawns. Another guy with a cast net managed a leader prawn but that was all.
Still it was worth it to see the sun come up over the Barron River, much better than anything else I can think of to do at 5:30am :)
