hi all, i have read on another forum as to useing chicken as bait, :-/ well this morning i have tried it, took down a chicken leg and cut it up as strip bait, works really well ( beach fishing ) landed a few small yting ( no keepers) a large toad fish :-X and a few small bream ( again no keepers ),
so the chicken works
cheers
Daz
chicken gut is a well known gun bait for big winter bream. the stuff stinks to high heaven tho. A trick i read in Brad smiths column in BnB was to add some bread crumbs to the bag of chicken gut as it will give you better grip on the slippery stuff when you're baiting up but also absorbs all the stinky oils and disperses that as berley with each cast ;).
Chicken breast is supposed to be a gun bait as well as fillet steak :-? I'd rather eat the bait than the bream :D
cheers, roo.

have used chicken breast before and it goes very well, stays on the hook well, have got some good bream, flathead, even got a nice squire at the pin on it. have been told to soak it in aniseed oil over night aswell.

Chicken breast is the go aswell as the steak. My grandad was a butcher and that was all he used for his bream fishing for years...
Cheers

Mate chicken breast is the number one bait for big bream they love it. Most of my big bream have all fallen to chicken breast biggest was 45cm caught in a gold coast canal during the day.

only problem I have with chicken breast fillet is the wifes wrath when I borrow it from the freezer to turn it into reel food.

Try adding crushed garlic and see how you go.

any flesh bait will work - have you tried red meat like beef or pork?....might surprise some but they all work!
cheers Dave

Hi Daz,
Yep, I saw a guy using chicken breast as bait last weekend, nabbed a nice Queenfish on it too.
Apparently he soaks it overnight in tuna oil for best results.
