I finished work early and after not been able to go on the weekend due to work commitments I thought bugger it Im goin. :-/
We hit the water about 330pm and headed down to isle of capri bridge.
It has a rocky area and a few creek mouths near it so we thought thatll do.
We were happy casting away when the missus wanted a few tips so I thought yeah of course. As I was guiding her through a few of my ways she said Im on , Im on and I thought hang on , thats my rod! :oAny way she jagged her first coral trout(I think thats it) and was stoked. It was on a shimano 2500 with 6pound braid and 8pound mono leader and it was on a 3"power minnow berkley in galaxia green. 8-)
We started to drift near the bridge pilons and I said try to get it at the start of the pilons and drift into the eddy behind the pilon.
Next thing you know again its Im on , Im on. :oAfter a lengthy fight in which she done very well the big trevally was landed.
Excitement doesnt cut it , Ive got a fishin buddy for life. ;D Shes already talkin about an electric motor.(woohoo!) :)
It was caught on a shimano4000 with 14pound braid and 15 pound mono and once again on the same plastic as above , just a heavier jig head.
Here are the photos!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D

Heya Gutzy

There appears to be a very discomcerting trend on Ausfish lately with the ladies kicking some serious butt, however on the up side if they are going to get all keen and start buying lecys then there should be more of it ;D

Must be the excellent tuition you guys are giving them. Nice fish by the way, but I am thinking the first one is more likely an estuary cod. That trev would have caused a few oohs around the pilons I'm guessing.

Lots of trevs about at the moment. I hope the missus isn't rubbing it in to you too badly about outfishing you. ;) If I could be out on the water even to watch someone outfish me I'd be happier than being at work that's for sure. Good on you.

Poodroo

Gutzy and the missus,

Don't mean to sound like a marriage guidance councellor, but that's a healthy common interest you have going there, and good on her for kicking your butt!! I am sure you will let her know when enough is enough though ;D ;D You would never hear the end of it if it was my wife. :D

Next trip it's payback for taking control of your rod, if she does that again you will have to bring her back into line!!! ;) ;)

Well done!!

Gutzy

The bad news.

From experience - That is now her rod and reel until you buy her her own - Xmas is next week, save yourself a lot of pain and add a new rod and reel to the Christmas present pile.

And from now on double the number of lures everytime you buy.

Gutzy and Mrs Gutzy,
Well done - great couple of fish and the trev must have been great fun around the bridge. My misses used to go fishing with me all the time, and without fail would outfish me - unfortunately her enthusiasm for it has died off a bit now. Hopefully i can get her back into it at some stage. Well done, great afternoon out.
Regards,
Dave

I can also tell you from experience that will be her rod from now on..... dont worry tho, its worth it to be getting new gear all the time.

As a consolation, remember that it takes a very experienced skipper to be able to put your boater straight onto a few good fish. Unfortunatley, she will expect you to be a top skipper all of the time from now on....

Just dont let het get an ausfish login. :-?

Great fishing and hopefully she is well 'hooked' on it now. My Mrs - God Bless her - dislikes touching fish, bait etc etc etc. However, she does enjoy holding the rod.... :o

Opps - did I say that out loud??
