Allycat,
What are you targeting? I think Peel is a very early morning affair, and these days there are so many exclusion zones on the west side, I don't bother. Some good squire can be caught at Hanlon Light, and if you find a Loomis rod around the S/W tip, it will be one of my deckies who had a fish rip it out of the rod holder. ( the rod didn't fit the holder very well)
Goat Island has some good rubble I always check for sweetlip, we did well there once. And there is a deeper section SW of Goat, and a deeper drop off at the green marker, but don't anchor right there or you will be run over by the straddie ferry.
Good luck

Hey thanks micky but i havent got a gps yet, i used to drift from SWR to horseshoe bay and get a lot of smallish squire, anyway i headed over to peel this morning and found that there is a few other fishos on holidays as well, was pretty quite and i got this fella that went 48cm in 28ft of water and besides 2 other very small squire that was it for the day, will try again as i found some interesting water to explore.

hey alleycat,
nice fish there mate, what size reel are you using there?
is it a 2500?

Yes mate sure is, its a shimano sustain 2500 spooled with 10lb fireline on a gary howard 7 ft shikari 4kg spin stick, it is ideal for snapper that size up, but tell the truth i sometimes get tempted to go back to 2-4kg dropshot with my stradic 1000 and 6lb fireline just for the thrill of the fight.

Hi silent, the rig is i reckon the best rig for the bay you can get, its a 1/0 berkley salt water pro series in 1/6th oz with a 3 inch atomic jerk minnow in carolina pumkin holo, its just dynomite, looks for all the world like a prawn flicking around, and those hooks are strong enough for big red when he hits, try the rig for yourself. cheers. ;D
