Hi all,
Put the boat in at Donnybrook this morning at 7.30am and fished the lower half of the tide drifting around Mission Point. The fishing was slow but constant and entertaining.
First fish onboard had yellow and black strips, it had a spike on its back and on both sides?? Looked like it would be more at home on a coral reef.
Fish two, a fifty cm flathead, followed by a bream, a longtom, a stingray, and another undersized bream. We also had another big hit which broke the line (to much drag), I suspect another ray.
If I can work out how to down load fish 1 from my phone camera, I'll post a picture.
All fish caught on squid and yabbies.
An enjoyable morning at a lovely spot with great conditions.
Regards
Michael

no doubt i would have seen you in the area i was in my 460dory (with the overly tall bimini) following the old man in his explorer.
got in the water around 9 went straight up to Caloundra for a sticky beak. (never gone that far by water). itwas a nice cruisey trip.
got back opposite mission around 1030-1100 with little luck in the way of fish (what do you expect when your with small kids)
good to see someone catching something in that area its been slow goin there lately.
using bait or softies

the weed was there and annoying.
but not as thick as the bridge area.
but didnt seem to be as thick around Coochin or Caloundra.
gunna go try buckleys and ningi Sunday morn (to try out my new soft plastics rig :D) hopefully the weed wont be as bad at the top of the tide

Neil,
I was using squid and locally pumped yabbies. The yabbies did most of the damage.

Choppa,
I didn't notice much weed around Mission Point, I managed to hook some seagrass and some over soft green coral shaped thing whilst drifting, but not enough to spoil the day. Only one snag as well.

Hi Choppa
You obviously know your way over Bribie. Fished over there Thursday and Friday. Up the passage past Donnybrook to Mission point wasn't too bad for weed. If you see a nice blue hat with skipper on the front its mine-man overboard.
Didn't catch much but we had fun doing it.
Was going to head into ningi creek but am not sure of getting in there. Can you depart with some of your knowledge and let me know the best way and time??? ;D
Any info would be much appreciated.
Also see alot of boats heading out past skirmish-- is there a good fishing ground there??????
Was at gilligans friday morning to. Anyone catching much over that way.
Cheers
Ronnie
