Hello again! 2nd trip in as many days - got to be happy with that! [smiley=wink.gif]

When you get an offer to chase Mac's with Webby - what do you say????? YES - of course![smiley=grin.gif]

So meet up at Victoria Pt at 5.30am with Webby and Paul (thedeckie) and head out. What perfect conditions today - about 5knot winds at the most - just great weather to be on the water! [smiley=smiley.gif]

Around the turn of the tide there were Mac's around but feeding on the plentiful schools of bait in groups of 2 and 3 rather than big schools - you could see them around the boat!

Webby pulls in a 61cm Snapper on a 1inch slug! I've never heard of that before let alone seen it done!

Had the pleasure of meeting Chief and his deckie, who were also out chasing the Mac's. Also saw Lucky Phil, and met Nugget!

Then the sound I had hoped to hear - ZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZZ - after some expert direction from Webby and 5 or 6 good runs - I had it in - a 92cm Spottie going 4kgs! [smiley=cheesy.gif] My new PB! My biggest fish ever!!!
The gear held up well and I was grinning from ear to ear and still am! [smiley=cheesy.gif] [smiley=cheesy.gif] [smiley=cheesy.gif]

So all in all a great weekend! Tally - 3 squire and a spottie! You have to be happy with that!

Thank you Webby and Paul for a wonderful day! I had a ball!

A very happy Peter [smiley=cheesy.gif]

Top stuff GW. That was me with Chief this morning. We ended up leaving to head home but not before Chief dropped one on a slug and had the leader bitten thru on another.
I dropped one on the floater as well. Absolutely spot on on the weather.
Top fish mate.
The blokes beside us had 3 while we were looking and at one stage a double hookup.

Yes, Peter, when I came over you did have a nice grin on the dial ;D

I stayed after you guys left for no result. I did get some livies over near the Yellow ! But, floated them out until the wind got......windy ! ::)

I knew that in my tinnie I'd be gettin wet on the trip home, so I pulled the pin hoping to avoid it as much as possible/ NBG. !

When I turned up I thought I was back at the Whitsundays, in September. They have the Miss FigureHead comp, and with thedeckie sitting high on the bow of the Fire Truck, I was wondering what was going on ? I mean it looked awefully quiet on board.

I saw many bait schools passing under the tinnie and the fish were in the 20 - 30cm size. Looks like the spotties had their fill earlier in the day, maybe ?

Good work on your PB Peter !!!!

Well Done Pete - B%stard! I'm yet to nail my 1st Mack let alone Spottie and the closest i got today was a bite through on 40lb line while we watched it come back around and nudge the float! So you have one up on me - i guess you'll have to return the Snapper favour and get me on to a mackarel!!!

I'll be waiting for that call... Congrats though!!!

Take Care T

Well done Peter, great fish and a great day out on the water, that weather was just magic this morning.

I think you would have landed that fish with out Webby's instructions, dont want his head swelling too much. ;D ;D

How big did that snapper of Webby's go that he got on that 2gm slug or was that a five cent piece?????? :D

They weren't there in numbers today but certainly had size on there side.
Gotta feel for those poor buggers next too us,they must have dropped at least four that I saw.

The bait was thick all day,we tried in vain with slugs but weren't really getting the action that others were getting with floated pillies.

Webby, thanks for the adventure,it wasn't to be my day, Im after you now Pete, bring on that 1m model.

Anyway Im off to order some of that frozen and probably imported fish from the local fish and chip shop, thats what I could taste all day........Spottie and salad for dinner......BUGGER :'(

Cheers

Paul

PS: You forgot to mention that Nuggett was at that ramp and took shots for this coming Friday's fishing report, which I think will be on at about five to six....bloody hell, gets the best fish of the day and becomes a movie star!!!!!!! :) :)

Well done Peter. You are so priviledged to get out there with Webby. What an honour. Nice spotty and now you are the envy of many. ;) Would love to have a go at some torpedos myself soon. Cloe and Sarah look really excited in those pics. Finally a fish that doesn't pale into insignificance with your hands holding it. ;D ;D

Glad to help break your virginity on bay spots mate ;D
Their sure were some big mothers swimming past the boat.
First time i've chased spots and they wouldnt take slugs, but the old pillies soon had them going.
Yes Phill the Figure Head on the bow, scared the crap out of everyone that try to get close to us ;)
You have to keep some secrets about catching snapper on small slugs and bait schools above :-X
Back out tomorrow to see if we can have some more fun.
At least you now have one up on Herm, which will take some beating ;D
I ended up with the sandies, though you wanted a entree before the grilled mack.

That's a good fish to bust your cherry on ;D

I was fishing further North and had one of the most frustrating sessions with Macs swimming around the boat for a couple of hours with only a few boated. We had no Pillies on board and they could have made the difference.

Cheers

Well done Pete!

You really have set a standard for the rest of the holidays, which you have only just started :o

The rest of us returning to work will have to pray for good weather on weekends, unlike you..... you ...you....you.... lucky buggar. ;D ;D

The rig you caught it on held up to the task too I understand??? ::) ::) Another reason you deserve a congratulations. ;) You have me inspired to hang up the placcies for a trip or two, and have my arms stretched a little more on some pelagics. SOON!!

Sorry about that Richie - Webby did tell me but in all the excitement I forgot! Good to meet you - we live right near Tinny Creek so if you are ever around for a fish give me a yell! [smiley=smiley.gif]

Lucky Phil - Great to meet you! Yes - I was VERY happy, have never caught a fish that big before! [smiley=smiley.gif]

Now, now, now T1 - you know how many trips it took me to get onto a decent fish! Would love nothing better than to chase some spotties with you mate - give me a call - on hols until Feb! [smiley=grin.gif]

Foggy - Thanks! I am still after a decent snapper for the scrap book. Are the big fellas still around? [smiley=huh.gif]

Thanks Chief - I am just glad it picked my rod! Just lucky I guess![smiley=smiley.gif]

thedeckie - How was you fish and chips for tea? Sorry that you didn't get onto one! I had a great time and am looking forward to seeing you again at the BBQ. I now know why you are called "thedeckie" - seeing you wizz around the boat was a joy to watch!

Charlie - It was a great day, I always pick up new and interesting things when fishing with Webby. Only my 2nd time but I hope to have many more!

M-Mike - It's been a long time coming! Are you sure that no one could cover your shift for you on Saturday???

Webby - Thanks again! You are a true champion! I hope that you score some tomorrow. As to the crabs, Mate they were all in your pots! Didn't think it fair for you to share them! If my Wife was there - I would not got a look in! (She wasn't shopping spending up on the Mastercard! LOL) Still can't believe that snapper you nailed but you did call it! Sorry I didn't have a photo, but I guess we can see it on Friday night!

jez and suze - thanks!

PinHead - I was trying to ring you - but yet again - you were too busy and it went to message bank - or maybe I should take the hint! [smiley=wink.gif]

snapperm8 - Thanks - Paul and Webby tried to tell me that it was undersized and had to go back! They would have had to prise it from my cold, lifeless fingers!!! [smiley=grin.gif]

Horse - Sorry your day with the Mac's. They seemed to like those pillies! Hope you have better luck next time!

Scalem - Holidays - only a month to go! [smiley=grin.gif] [smiley=grin.gif] [smiley=grin.gif]

That's a wonderful effort Peter!! ;D There's nothing like catching your first mack and a good one at that! It's even better when somebody like Webby's on hand to offer guidance as well!

So Paully was the figure head hey? God, any children out there yesterday who might have seen him would have been having nightmares last night.

Surely you have recaptured the bragging rights at home by now!

I'm sure the subject will be mentioned a few times next Saturday. Just give me a nudge and a wink when Janine's within earshot and we'll bring the subject up. On second thoughts, just a nudge will do. No winks please.

Again, well done!!

Hey the deckie that was probably us. The fish were there but very shy so i got rid of the trebles and used blacked out single hooks, got the hits but didn;t stay connected. Had one solid fish for a few runs and got hit on the leader knot by another fish. you got to ask if there hitting l those leader knots small slugs have got to be the way??? :-/ :-/

Hey chief, was re stocking up on some gear as I was given a BCF voucher for Christmas and go talking to a polite young man (Garreth) it turns out he is your son :D :D :D

Very helpful and had great knowledge in helping me select some gear. Would say dad uses this so I added another item to the arm full of gear I already had. I hope he didn't give out to many family secrets ;D ;D ;D

I forgot to mention that you are both welcome to come out to our place this Sat we have got a M & G that TOL & Janine have organised.

Take care Peter :) :) :)
