I need a 4WD bad. I dream about Fraser & Moreton & Straddy every day.

Trouble is I reckon my maximum budget is $25000.

What I would like to know is the best value option for this kind of dough.

I dont need much more than two seat capacity and I only want to do beach work
when I'm off road. Also I only need to tow a 3.8 tinny.

I've been thinking about maybe a Grand Vitara 2 door or something similar.
Or would I be better off buying something second hand with more grunt ?

Any and all advice apppreciated.

Vitara's are great but small and you will want the extra room one day for sure.

I thought the figures on my old 3.2 Jackaroo were bad until I read that. Used to get 500 out of an 85 l tank

Get a oan set up and fie up the computer to get a QFLEET auction list for your local (or within 4 hour drive ) area. At the last Cairns auction yopu could have had a 2 year old xls 3.2 litre Diesel Pajero wagon are not the toughest 4WD but a basically new 5 seat wagon for $25k - man ya gotta be laughin all the way to the bank.

Only probs - unless Brissy they need a bank cheque by the end of the day.

Good luck.

I was lucky. I wanted a turbo single cab trayback and a 6 month old turbo Triton came along with 7500km on the clock for $25k. So far I'm very happy, I've just got back from Awoonga towing my Fisher plate alloy and it went extremely well.

I've got a 96 Nissan Patrol 4.2 GQ naturally aspirated Diesel and get 630 per 85l tank. 14L per 100km loaded with camping gear and towing a Quintrex explorer. Great 4WD. Can pick them up for around 16 to 25K. :)

Girella, trying not to be too biased, but make sure you have a look at the 80 series Cruiser range.
Top vehicles for the cost now days. They used to be worth an arm and a leg, but you can pick them up now for well inside your price range. Yes you are buying second hand, but like the Patrols, you are buying quality that will last a long time. Well past the life of the likes of a Grand Vitara.
Gauranteed you will be looking for the extra room later on, and the extra capability off road. The first time you take something like this offroad, it will entice you into goint further each time.
