Hi all,
I finally fitted a pair of spotlights to my Sportage. The lights are Lightforce 170's. They are mounted on the nudge bar and spaced only 70mm apart or if you prefer, 245mm between centers. I'm not sure what is the best way to align them. They are directed just a little offset from straight ahead at the moment. The left one is slightly aimed to the left of center and the right is aimed slightly to the right of center. Is this the "norm" for alignment when using spotties? I know its an individual choice but how do you all set them up? I was wondering if I should aim the left light slightly to the right of center and the right one, slightly to the left of center. This would still illuminate the road the same but the beams cross each other about 400 or 450 meters ahead. An obstacle passing thru this center point of intersection would be instantly in view, more so than with the lights aimed as they are now. What do you all find is the most practical way to aim your spotties?

A friend of ours told us a story about 4x4 owners in Sydney and Melbourne who buy cans of "Spray on Dirt". This stuff is sprayed onto their 4x4's to give the appearance that they actually do take their 4x4 off road and do all the "good stuff" with it. Have any of you heard of this stuff being used? It sounds like something the upper class from Toorak would do. Is this for real?

Eagle,
I try and find somewhere i can park the vehic;le and aim the lights so they fill the area beyond the headlights.usually u can stand in front of each light and aim the other one till you get it where it suits you.
I recon they are right when i go into a dip and i can still see 200/300 m up the road.and the guide posts are lit up for an extra few hundred metres(check by turnim the drivin lights off then back on)
Hope this helps

thats what i do too I usually find a long street at night park in the middle and adjust one spottie while i am standing infront of the other.
