Hi Fellows,

About 6 months ago I bought a Dark Blue 98 Triton Dualcab the rig doubles as a work ute and and famliy vehicle, is mechanically sound and I'm very happy with it. The only thing that the vehicle had was a severe case of what I would call Oxidation on the roof. Has anyone out there had any experience with this problem? I have tried to polish it out, only by hand though. It did improve a little bit but is still quite bad. Or is it something that cannot be fix and will have to be repainted. Any advice given will be appreciated.

you guessed it...the only way to fix it...is paint it! sorry to be the bearer of bad news :-X

This is caused mostly by the elements..leaving your car out in the sun all day every day will not help. Other things like harsh chemicals can have an effect as well.

Sounds like it will need to be resprayed.
Metalic paints suffer from this more then basic colours.
It is usually caused from sun exposure, but can be from previous repair.
Ask Webby he may know of a miracle cure as he does this sort of stuff for a living.

Hi Depending on how far the Oxidation has gone into the paint, it may still be possible to cut and buff it out.
