View Full Version : 4x4 advice

Hey guys,

Im looking at purchasing a 4x4. I dont need a large vehicle as such, so are there any smaller ones anyone can recommend??? It needs to be able to tow a boat too. I was looking at the wranglers, but they dont seem to be that practical.

Wranglers are great 4x4's. But are limited for space.
An XJ Cherokee is not oversized nice to drive and great value for money, simple vehicles with many standard fittments..
Good vehicles with around 100k on the clock can be had for around 10k.
Nissans Landcruisers and other Jap 4x4's are good as well but overpriced for what you get and can cost a motza to repair. Plus every second man has one.

Cheers, yep the $$$$ is a major issue. :( Id prefer a smaller cheaper 4x4 that just does the job. One day Id love a landcruiser but its out of my reach for the moment. Ill look into the cherokees.

JJ how much will you spend? Make sure it has coil front and rear if it will be your only vehicle. 4wds are quite cheap atm for what you get and relative to the original selling price, lots and lots out there.

I owned I Cherokee for nearly 10 years and loved it. Great motor with lots of grunt. They tow really well.

Go for a hilux.It'll work out cheaper in the long run.

You should get a Toyota Surf for that money. Will tow all day long, great round town, very capable offroad.

yeah? I like the surfs, but i thought a half decent one would be way outta range. :)

What sort of Boat do you want to tow?

Would help with knowing what sort of towing it needs to do.
