I have a dilemma - that is, I want a boat. I currently own an X-Trail. I am going to buy a 4.5m tinny which, when on the trailer, I estimate will weigh about 600-700kg. Will the X-Trail pull this kind of weight safely. I would prefer not to have to go down the path of electric brakes....

If not I will upgrade to something that will pull it ..... the Prado looks nice !!

Your advice on the towing capability of the x-trail would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Meat.

Meat, The extrail will sh=t it in and over rider brakes would be more than enough for this application.
Contack your nissan dealer and he will tell you the same.

Graeme,

You have just made my night.... its going to save me heaps which means more fun boat stuff for me... Now I just need to find a Townsville fisho who doesn't mind sharing his local spots for a free day out in the boat.

I am moving there in a month so its time to research !!

Meaticus,
It will be good to see another Ausfisher in TVille. Give me a PM when you get here, and I'll gladly share some spots with you...provided you don't mind catching vermin and undersize, cause that seems to make up most of my catch. You should enjoy living up here. There are fishing spots everywhere, the lifestyle is fairly laid-back and there are plenty of jobs. Get a copy of North Australian Fish Finder and it will help get you started. If you intend fishing in the blue water, make sure you get a GBR zoning map (free at tackle shops). And if you could bring some rain with you it would be much appreciated. ;D
