Can anyone give me the contact number of wreckers that deal with L'cruisers parts or aftermarket parts. I need both electric side mirrors. some of the mounts have cracked. Always handy to know where you can get parts as well.

Thanks

Give some 4WD repair shops a call. They may have contact with good suppliers of secondhand parts?

Where abouts are you from Wild Cat. There is a way to fix the electric mirror mounts without having to buy new ones. I broke the passenger side one on one of our Cape trips one year and Toyota in Mackay on the way back wanted an arm and leg for one. Even second hand they were going for a sweet penny.
Let me know if you want more info and I'll write it out for you.

Cheers
Corry

PS. If you are keen on getting a replacement, try QLD Cruisers in Rockhampton. I get all my part for my 40 Shorty, 60 and 80 Series Cruisers from them.

Yeah pass the info on. the hanging points on the motor frame are broken and the extra leaverage has cracked the screw mount below. I was going to try drilling the base and screwing the motor frame to the base but it will take a bit of accurate mucking about to get it right. , It's John from rocky we've talked a couple of times on this site last time about New Years at awoonga. The tripping round Kroombit tops shook the mirrors a bit so it is fix it time. Like to here your views on fixing the problem sound like it would be a common failing of the mirrors. I'll pm my phone number if it is a bit complicated to write

Righto Guys, took this off the 80 series group, they explain it in a briefer form than I could:

Exterior Mirror Problems

These mirrors are a poor design in so much as they are weak at the "ears" that the assembly hangs off. The first tell tale is when a modest amount of vibration is noticed. At this time you may get away with simply tightening the securing screw (accessed through hole in bottom of housing-phillips head).

I have had to replace 2 mirrors due to hail damage. The backing frame was undamaged and Toy wanted an incredible $$ for the glass, frame and attached motors (not sold separately).

A glazier friend of mine replaced the glass in both for $40. The glass is not a common sort due to its thickness, so I did have to wait 5 days though, but save $$$.

I have had the same problem on my machine regrding shaking and vibrating side mirrors.

As I am able to plastic weld I welded a new plastic lug onto the inside of the mirror. This has now been in place for 30k. Epoxy gluing the offending lug back on would generaly be a short term measure, as the plastic is one that has low "glue ability". The problem with plastic welding is correctly identifying the plastic and then having the correct rod, and heat setting for welding. As can be expected of any plastic when vibration occurs the plastic will fatique.

Easy fix that has worked for me

1) Remove screw at bottom of mirror
2) Let mirror assembly drop forwards and dangle on the motor wires
3) Apply a big glob of black RTV silicone to each corner of the mount
4) Squish the mirror back in place
5) Replace screw

I have used the third option above. Worked like a charm and has done heaps more trips up to the Cape.
Let me know if you need more explanation on these, will gladly help out.

Cheers
