A looking at replacing the tow vehicle (which also doubles as a work hack).

Have on option on a V8 discovery (mid 90's model). What sort of fuel consumption could I expect on the highway?

Anything else to be aware of?

mate i have a 1997 v8 disco only owned it for 3 or so months goes very well only thing i have had to fix on the vehicle is a radiator purge tank the model i have had a bad batch (lasted 8 years though). the fuel i cant really tell you cause i have a lead foot ::) but i get around 440km per 70ltrs not towing and if i tow well 2.5-3 tonne i can get around 300km a tank but thats still doing around 90-100km on the highway. i researched on a site that a fellow ausfish member pointed me to and the guys there gave me all the info i needed seeing there right into all of the aspects worth a look and even a post to see what most get out of there km/litres

This may or may not be of value to you ... but a friend had a Disco for about 12 months, but sold it as he tired of the terrible handling (body roll more specifically). He has always owned 4x4's, but he couldnt take to this one.

JCM it sounds like his suspension was abit iffy mine is the standard atm but has bugger all roll and feels very safe. i am however changing the spring on the back of mine for towing the weight and seeing dad has a brand new pair of shocks sitting there doing nothing i may aswell put them in aswell. shocks needs to be replaced every 100k if you ask me makes a hell of a difference if there faulty
