G'day,

I'm in the market for either an 80-series TD or if I have to, a 100-series petrol wagon. I've heard two separate reports of people installing modified chips in both, one's result was a reduction to 15L/100K on a 4.5L 100-series petrol and another was a substantial increase in torque on an 80-series 4.5L petrol.

These were 2nd-3rd hand reports and I was wondering whether anybody has had any experience with these or knows someone in-the-know who I could talk to??

Thanks Lads,
grunta.

Been a few years since I had the 4.5l 80 series. At the time there were no chips available.
Best mod for the 80 as far as fuel goes is airflow.
Snorkel, extractors, bigger pipes.
Won't get a lot more H.P., although you might think it cause they sound meaner, but fuel economy picks up significantly.

Sorry Grunta can't help on the Crusier but I got a performance chip for the TD5 Landy - couldn't be more happier.

Heaps more torque and overall power with no increase in fuel consumption as well as an actual decrease in consumption when I'm towing.

It's a Bruce Davis chip out of Sydney but I'm pretty sure he's Landy only.
