"Fish species interactions in polyculture"

Fish-environment interactions as a management tool in polyculture ponds
and in drinking water reservoirs. Natural food webs and fish pond
management practices affecting them. Synergism and antagonism among fish

species in polyculture ponds. Examples from the polyculture systems
practiced in Israel (species involved: common carp, hybrid tilapia,
silver carp and mullet) and Bangladesh (species involved: rohu, catla,
mrigal, common carp).

Hi Chuong,
Long time no talk. Still got the togas in the tank?

Seminar sounds interesting.
Damn shame I'm already booked in for something else.

Cheers,

Fitzy..

Hi Fitzy,

Yeah still got them... have had them for a few years now and think they will be around for a while yet.

Hows the stocking of Atkinsons going?

If I get a chance to attend I'll post what was said.

Some interesting points:

50% of their aquaculture production is common carp.

Tilapia also caused blue-green algae blooms in ponds due to selective grazing of algae.

Mixed species ponds often do better because of different fish feeding habits can be benefical for one another.

They have filter feeders that can keep BG algae levels down. Need Australian equivalent here?

Our silver perch has also been trialled over there.
