Unfortunately the chat boards were off line from yesterday afternoon to early this morning. This was due to someone exploiting a flaw in the script that the chat boards are run on. The writters of the script are now aware of the problem and it is being fixed.

This did not effect any other part of the site, the person simply deleted messages from the chat board.

The chat board has been restored from a backup. A backup of the site is suppose to be done by the host provider once a week but this has not been done, even though they charge for it. But, that is another story, I will not bore you with the expletives that were exchanged.

Bottom line, quite a few messages have been lost.

I have restored the Members list up to yesterday as I had not long done a backup of the Members list myself. Sadly though the backup of the Messages was incomplete.

Hi Steve,

A big shame - not so much about the hacker - this sort of thing happens and that is what backups are for. Very naughty of your service provider not to have their backup schedule in place. >:(

Thanks for being upfront about what happened - we can all get back to building up the content again I guess! ;)

Well, have I got some serious crawling to do when I get hom this afternoon :'( :'(
Having spent the night arguing over sabotage - thought the wife got so fed up with the home page, constant surfing thru chat pages, quiet giggling over joke page etc etc - accused her on numerous times for "doing somethin" to the "whatsit"
(she knows more about computers than I do!)
Went to bed in a hot sweat and cranky - thinking I would have to move out of home and spend longer hours at 'work' to get my fix. God bless external hackers!!! (they're still b@#&ards tho)
Well done guys for rectifying the situation - I wasn't quite finished with my rehab program :D :D :D :D :D

Well done Steve. A big thanks for all your EXTRA work that had to be carried out last night. I suppose you have burnt the midnight oil again? Thats 2 nights in a row with a 6-30am bedtime!! ;-)

Got home a little after 6 booted the pc put tea on hit the hot key..no page waaaaaaaaaa...went into a fit of the shakes..didnt know what to do for the rest of the night..even tried TV for 10 mins..wait i have a bush n beach to read..must have checked the site every 10 mins in between reading..good to see it back up this morning, well done steve. ;D

good to see to boards back on line like everyone else had know idea what to do last night so went out to annony the wife and you know the response I got from there bloody go fishing and don't forget the sweater only problem is i SOLD my boat so till I get my new Motor on the other one I'm land based so it's fishing withdrawals for me for a couple of weeks and as for those D!!!head hackers leave our chat boards alone your only jealous that we all help one another around here and you got nothing better to do with your time as for Steve Brown well done on the return of the chat room ;D ;D ;D ;D

Big thanks and a job well done Ausfish to get the boards up and running again so quick, I just wish I knew they were up again before I bought a couple of Bundy bottles to help me get through tonite ::) ::) ::)

I suppose they will come in handy for the next greet and meet.............if they last that long.

The dog will be happy too now as I wont be going out the back tonite and giving him a kick and swearing every 10 mins.........lol

I was thinking last night about a 'similar' event that happened on another site I frequent. People went ballistic and said it was all over for the site, it was bad and everyone was upset - there was wailing and gnashing of teeth.

I think it's a credit to everyone here the attitude that people have taken. Sure, it's a shame to lose the posts but it's not the end of the world. No one that I have seen has done a dummy spit at all.

Good on you guys, I hope to make it to the next meet and greet to put some faces to the names. :)
