Sure have. When I was living in South Aus, I used to fish for Eagle rays a fare bit..When hooked they ran like hell and especially in the shallow water they would take to the air as well..Great fun to catch!

years ago, the old man took me and my elder bro out fishin off indian island in bynoe hbr. nt., to try out our new bait casters that we got for xmas. after a while of fishing both our rods suddenly bent over to the handles and began spoolin out furiously. by the time we stopped goofin' around & got to the rods the lines went slack, we both looked at each other dumbly when, unexpectedly, a bloody huge manta ray launched itself from the ocean & sailed clean over our tiny little 15' runabout & belly flopped on the other side totally drenching everyone & filling our open mouths & boat with sea water.
the oldman, as cool as a cucumber, turned to us both and said ' will you two boys stop mucking around' which released peels of nervous laughter.
by crikey we were bloody lucky it didn't land on the boat because it totally dwarfed our vessel.
