Complacency will kill us as rec fishers, i can remember with the tailor ris i put a post up regarding impending in possesion limits, plus hints were dropped by my local member as to a marine park in moreton bay as in the GBR. Steve Gresham is now working on a petition, stand up and be counted people. Thanks Vern for forwarding this on, oh people by the way Sunfish only support Financial members, 27,000 now,in theory, but go into bat for all, however if only 27,000 members are on the books, makes the rest look like a minority, make a stand join Sunfish and show you care ..
cheers
joe.

Wednesday 18 December – QCC – 166 Ann St Brisbane – Time – 5:30pm – 7:00pm.
These workshops will help you analyse the EIS and learn how to write effective EIS submissions.
Community Cabinet meeting in Capalaba
The community cabinet meeting on the 3rd November was very effective. Thank-you to everybody that attended and especially to those who proudly wore the No Sea Cage stickers. The Ministers responded well to the issue and there were several deputations on the issue. The Ministers met with included – Tom Barton, Henry Palaszczuk and Dean Wells. Premier Beattie was asked a question concerning the cages in open forum time responding with ‘We will have to wait until the release of the EIS’.
Parliament Electronic Petition
Thank-you to everybody that helped on the E-petition on the State Parliaments website. The final count was almost 1100. The closest to us in the other petition areas was 300. Well done!!!
Julia Toich has left
We had to say a sad goodbye to Julia who has been working on the campaign for six months now. She did a brilliant job and has now moved on to an Environmental Consultancy firm. So Goodluck to Julia.

Scottish Christmas Campaign: "Santa Says No, No, No, to Farmed Salmon"

1) Scottish 'quality' salmon is a sham, a scam and a consumer con
2) The vast majority of fresh and smoked salmon sold in supermarkets is farmed
3) Farmed salmon is so contaminated with cancer-causing chemicals that the Food Standards Agency advice is to eat only
one portion of salmon per week
4) Farmed salmon contains more fat and is less healthy than wild salmon
5) Labeling of farmed salmon products is unclear
6) Artificial colorants are fed to farmed salmon to make their flesh pink
7) Illegal chemicals have been detected in farmed salmon on sale in UK supermarkets
8) Farmed salmon are cooped up like battery chickens spreading diseases, parasites and untreated wastes
9) Wild salmon and sea trout are being threatened with extinction by thousands of farmed salmon escapees
10) Farmed salmon depend upon a food supply that is both depleted and contaminated

How you can help
1. Be ready to respond to the EIS in mid December.
2. Attend a submission writing workshop.
3. Continue writing letters to local councilors (esp. if they are in Redlands, Redcliffe or Logan electorates), state members, Premier Peter Beattie and the Federal Environment Minister Dr Kemp outlining your environmental, social and economic concerns about the development.
4. Write letters to the editors of your local newspapers detailing your concern about the development.
