I am a shore based angler who is looking for any suggestions of saltwater fishing spots within an hour or so of Brisbane.

I tried Jacobs Well at the low tide on Sunday and then the Pimpama River (after reading about it on this website) near the weir with the total catch between two of us of two small (very small) bream.

Thanks

Cubesy
Any suggestions?

Hi Cubesy.....You will do better if you fish the incoming tide for bream....flathead maybe ok on the ebb tide.
Early morning or dusk is the go in summer as the fish don't like the bright sunshine(they get sunburnt)..lol
If you are fishing the middle of the day try the deeper water.
Gee there are a million places to fish around Brissy.....Avoid crowded areas with lots of boat traffic as this will spook the fish.
If you are after a feed of whiting try Nudgee Beach on an incoming tide.
Sand or blood worms are the best bait but they can be caught on small peeled prawns.
Another good spot is the beach lagoon at Shorncliffe...you need a calm morning for the best results.
I could go on and on but im sure fellow ausfish members will offer you plenty more info.
Cheers Brent

Thanks

I'll give those spots a go.

I am not fussy on what I catch. Just something above the legal size would be fine.

Lota creek is a good starting point, park your car on the manly side at the bottom of the park you will see what i mean when you get there, sorry cant give you a name of a road or street the ubd is not in reach. Send me a message and i will chase it up, however, on an outgoing tide from the manly side you can walk the creek right out into the bay, use baits or lures to catch flathead, whiting, bream, tailor. You can pump yabbies and just stand on the bank for the whiting. I have followed the tide out just over knee deep with good results. Oh buy a pair of diver booties. Sharp shells, broken bottles etc. hope this helps
cheers
joe.
