The big attraction as always is the $1000 cash for the heaviest bream but there are also fantastic prizes for bream, whiting, flathead, jew and tailor in both senior, junior categories.
This year, to encourage more junior entries, there will be extra categories for heaviest junior boys and heaviest junior girls so young competitors have twice the chance to take home a prize.
As well as heaviest fish category prizes, all competitors go in the draw to win a fantastic tinnie package, just for entering.
The weigh-in, festivities and presentation will be held at the Beenleigh RSL Club grounds at Mt Warren Park on Sunday from 11.00am, the weigh–in closes at 1pm.
Entry tickets are $10 for seniors and $5 for juniors and available from most southern bait and tackle shops.

MY-TopEnder what would you like to know?
Comp stars Friday evening - have your fish in the weigh in tent by 1pm Sunday.
No prizes for bag weight - just weigh your biggest bream, whiting, flathead, tailor or jew (only those species).
Hopefully there will be a live band, there will be food and drinks and of cause a few raffles.
Provided I get off Fraser Island early enough, I'll be comparing.
I basically call out entry numbers for two hours giving away prizes, so you have a good chance of picking up some sort of prize.
There is usually around 800 entrants so it is pretty big event in our little community.
Pick up a ticket, fish hard, come back to the weigh in - see you there and good luck.
Lacustrine fish are prohibited.

Is the weigh in a "live weigh in", or will the fish be deceased by this stage? Most bream tournaments you see around these days state that they bream must be kept alive for the weigh-in before they are released again. Just curious. Could be a hard thing to keep the little critters (and others) alive for that period of time perhaps. Anyhow.....it sounds like a great weekend ! 8)

No live weigh in.
As you've suggested a comp this long would make a live weigh in difficult.
The King of the Pin has always been known as a battler's comp - low entry fee and a grand up for grabs.
They are keen to discourage over fishing and have led the way - before the change in flathead max size - prohibiting lizards over 60cm for many years.
They also only allow you to weigh in one of each species.
The prize pool is heavily stacked in favour of juniors this year as well.
northsboy - I thought I'd get a bite on Lacustrine fish...! - NO I didn't make it up Phill.
BUT - Let's NOT go down that track again... please no more lawyers!
Click on the PS at the bottom of that post to get the dictionary definition.

BUGGER!!!! i would have been there had i not have just lost my car license for speeding.
Try me again in November.
Q- Is it only confined to the pin area ? and if so how do they police this? Or is more of a case of largest bream / species caught.

The boundaries are the top of Macleay Island (Potts Point) to the Nerang River.

You can only weigh in bream, whiting, flathead, tailor, jew - no sharks.
Juniors are 15 years and under - looks like you missed on both the shark and the junior.
You'll still have a ball.
See you there.

Yeah i'll be down there luckily i've got 3 weeks of diving left so boating is an option for me YAY. Hopefully there will be Me, my little brother, and my old man.
Now a couple of questions i had...
1 - Do you have to camp down there? or can i tow the boat down there and launch each day?
2 - Do each days fish get measured daily or is it at the end of the weekend?
3 - Is there a specific launch point for all boats?
Thats all....

Does anyone know a specific tackle or bait store i can buy tickets?
I tried Mossops, and they knew nothing about it, and i then tried Queensland Gun & Fishing and they knew nothing about it either.
Could someone please direct me to a bait & tackle store who will?
Thanks

I would suggest The Gem Bait & Tackle or Springwood Marine.

Cheers Steve, i thought Springwood would be my next point of call... driving to Gem to get them before the event day is a bit of a hike for me so i'll try Springwood Marine tomorrow at lunch.
