I'm at Oxenford (north end Gold Coast). Looking to possibly join a fishing club with some people with the knowledge and patience to give me some pointers. I've got a 5.25M Stacer easy rider with 115 HP motor and live bait tank. Have never fished outside the Seaway as I wouldn't have a clue where to go, what to fish for and how to rig.

Any current or past club members with a recommendation?

Or anyone with the skills and patience (not too much patience as we know our way around a boat and fishing rod for estuary fishing) to meet up for a couple of trips so we (probably son and me) can learn the ropes.

G'day Norm,

Welcome to the site. I too live in Oxenford. I am a member of the Gold Coast Sportsfishing as are a few other Ausfish members. We meet at our Club house down off Marine Parade - Nind Street I think, just north of the Southport Pool. We meet second Thursday of the month at 7pm. We usually have a guest speaker and the following Sunday is Club comp day and BBQ. Lots of the guys fish off shore and would be more than welcome to help you out.
Check out our Website at http://www.flatheadclassic.com.au/

If I have missed anything I am sure some of the other members can add to this.

Hope this helps and we see you at the Club one day.

Cheers

John

I live at Helensvale. I often fish both inside and outside the Seaway, as well as Coomera and Paradise Pt. Youre welcome to tag along.

If you want to go outside the Seaway you will need safety gear (flares, Vsheet), fishfinder and gps. If you go more than 2 miles offshore you will need epirb.

Send me a PM with your phone number. See help section on PMs.
