Fishing in Ayr

Hi all. I'm heading to Ayr for work next week, and just wanted to get some "insider information" about fishing in Ayr...

If anyone from there (Or who knows it well) can give me some info, that would be most appreciated :D

Have you got a boat? Prefer freshwater or salt, fish for fun or a feed?, lure or bait man?

Ayr sits alongside one of Australia's largest wetland aggregations so can offer a wide variety of fishing - I was born there and still visit and work (& fish) there regularly - Jim

I will be landbased. I will have a rod with me and 2 reels (2500 with 6lb Braid & a 4000 with 15lb Mono). Will have plastics and potentially a couple of hard body lures. Mainly plastics though.... I do fish bait, but in an area I don't know, and limited space due to travelling, I don't bait fish as much.

I don't mind either fresh or salt. Have chased Sooties & JP's in fresh before, but that's about it. Salt I am more used to, but am happy to fish either.

I fish for fun mainly (Don't mind a feed though ;) ) but when travelling, it's usually hard to cook them, so let em go. Any info you can give me Jim would be awesome.

as a kid i fished hell hole creek. havent wet a line there since i was 9 when i went with dad. been wanting to go back there really, cause i have some great memories with me, bro and dad fishing on the bank catching whiting and bream. schooled me in the ways of creek fishing and caught my biggest ever bream there, monster it was, on the last cast of the day too.

you get there when you head out towards rita island i think.
