Hi Guys
This message is for those that have helped and have offered help and are interested in helping in the future on our fishing trips. Due to law and insurance reasons, Volunteers now need to be registered with the RBF, in case of accident, and have a current Police Check and maybe Blue Card depending on situation. The organisation has proposed to pay for these. So those that are interested can you please email or pm me and i will send the name and contact number of the person to get in touch with for the relevent paperwork to be sent to you.
Thanks in Advance.
Joe.

Oh Nearly Forgot, Next Trip is Scheduled for the 21st July, looks like Deep Water Bend, will know more in the next Week.

Mate,
I'll have to apply for a Blue card. Definately interesting in helping out, but apparently it is taking 6 to 8 weeks to get a blue card at the moment, so wont have one in time for your next outing! :-[

I'll get it through the kids school - free for volunteers.

Hey Bruce,
Are you still coping with the extended leave ok? ;) Heading into the city along the Bruce Hwy take the Strathpine exit and turn left. Take the first turn left at the lights and follow your nose the road takes you back over the highway and into the Timbitamba Wetlands. The area has a boat ramp and pontoon, upriver from here is a board walk with some covered areas and cleaning tables. The park area behind has bbq's, toilets and play areas. Down river has some sandyareas and mudflats just an easy walk away.

Normally you can cast net for herring off the pontoon to get fresh bait. It is a bream fishing area mainly.

You can do your blue card on the net just go to BlueDog Training .com
I think it cost about $75.00 bucks

Cheers spinna ;)

Sorry for the delay guys, been flat out like a lizard drinking water. :'(

Sorry i cannot post the name of the person to contact on the board, so will pm everyone here.

Spinna, RBF, will pay for the card once you are registered as a volunteer, why waste money on the first on. sshhh i didnt say that. ;D

Feral as above, once you are registered with RBF they will do the Blue Card for you, once the application is in, you can volunteer while its being processed.

Have i answered everyones quesitons, if not let me know.
cheers

...and for anyone who is reading this and wondering....this is not a very onerous activity and as a participant, you do get to have a great experience not only in being able to help some nice people have an enjoyable outing but also in meeting some fellow Ausfishers and having a good chat.

I am one of those people who never participates in any charitable activity but I did attend the last one of these events and enjoyed the experience immensely. If anything, I found the time went too quickly on the day.

If you have the time, come and join in - it sure beats sitting at home. :)

I have to agree, I was just going to be there for an hour or two to help before heading back to work as I had plenty sitting there to do. Somehow I blinked and it was early afternoon and we were packing up after a top day with some good people, even Charleville was ok ;) ;) ;)

If you can spare the time give jaybee a post, its a fun day. Personally I'm going back to find out how Shane knew I was a fat bast**d without being able to see me, I must just sound heavy. :'( :)

I spoke to the volunteer coordinator at the Royal Blind Association that Jaybee referred me to re registration and blue card and he said that he would talk to Joe about getting us volunteers to do the paperwork on the day at the event. Joe will need to sight some identification and the volunteer coordinator suggested that the failsafe identification that will pass all tests is a driver's licence plus medicare card. You can show things like bank cards, passports etc but the most easily accepted identification is driver's licence and medicare card.

Hi,
Sounds very interesting for me. I've got bluecard for our fishing club to be safe for the children/juniors. Could you please feedback to me regarding those VIP/Blind people volunteers.
Happy fishing,
Hobbywhiting ;)
