That The Verminator is now converted.

Just had my baked squirry/snappery thingy.......nothing fancy.........just 50 minutes at 180d with nothing added. The best fish that I have ever tasted, apart from halibut.........being only 7 hrs old may have some bearing.

Now I'll have to brush up on snapper tactics as Mrs Verminator says that she'll never touch another shovelly or catty ::) ;D

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I am not one to tell you " I told you so" , BUT !

Welcome to the " Bright Side ". and now that you have tasted what's available on the bottom rung of the Bright Side, get yourself out and dong some " proper " reefies.

Cheers Phill

Wonders will never cease Kev!!! Had much the same last night with a few caught Saturday night in the bay. Baked whole, skin scored 4 or 5 times each side, wrapped in alfoil with butter and lemon juice, bit of salt and pepper, gut cavity filled with sweet chilli sauce and fine slices of lemon. Unreal after 45 mins at 170 degrees.

As Phill said, get out there and get into the good stuff ;)

Cheers

Have no fear me dear ;D I shall still be verminating. Just treated the deckie ;) to an electric mincer so a new berley recipe should be all the go ;D

Just wondering if the bugger will handle fish frames.........anyone tried it?

Love to Benno but whenever the deckie gets a day off, the weather has been against going offshore. ..........all the more reason for me to learn what's available inshore I suppose.

Too true mate. I'm not one for sauces and the like. Normally just dip in flour and fry, or bake whole.

;D Mate, once you've sat in a Whittley SL 6.5 that little Stacer 3.95 seems awfully small and vulnerable ;D First puff of wind and I'm thinking about wind against tide etc. The only consolation over there is that if I leave the boat and it buggers off without me.......there's always some bit of reef I can stand on till help arrives ;D

Seriously though, it's amazing what's over there in such shallow water........going to familiarise myself with it more, whenever I can, and I might just buy a few more plastics just to keep you happy ;D

Kev,
I've been given the drum on the absolute gun plastic for redcliffe snapper, now I could post the info here or even PM you but I think in the interest of keeping a good thing quiet I'd best come out with you and show you in person. ;D ;D

Check your PMs mate.
Regards,
Shayne

Well, last night it was mashed spud with HP sauce and garden peas and a fillet of whiting, tailor, and bream.........the fresh tailor won hands down with the bream 2nd. There was little taste to the whiting which surprised me as I've always enjoyed it from the chippys.

Hate to tell you this Kev, but when I catch a snapper while fishing off 1770, I whinge and call them "Coffs Harbour Vermin".

Just ask Phill, I gave two away around the 2kg mark (prossers) just a few weeks ago.

Call me spoiled.

Hey Kev, I thought something was wrong with the way I cooked shovelly
the only time I ate it......... [smiley=disappointed.gif] and after reading all about how you and your deckie loved it I thought I must've been missing out on something................apparently not. I'm glad to see that commonsense has prevailed and that the "minus fish" population will be spared of any further decimation by your crew ;D ;D..........Billy

No such luck for them Billy. The deckie still wants her bit of shovelly on the side ;-)

Going to have a go for 'em, shore based Redcliffe on Sunday........gotta get back to my roots :-)
