Does fishing cause stress, or does it stop stress.
A study has found that fisherpeople seem to live longer.
But when I have lost a fish, I seem to suffer a bit of stress,
specialy when Ive been battleing it for a while and its gets away.

For me,
Fishing gives me peacefully, relax, enjoy and fun ::) out of those stresses, etc. Cos catching fishes to feed the family.
That why I love fishing since I was little girl, now I'm 32 years old and still love fishing :D
Happy life of fishing,

It's all relaxation for me Tunaman.
I just love being out there on the water with a line in!
Sure it's great when the actions hot, but it's still bloody beaut when it's not!

Fishing is relaxing. When I'm fishing I don't think about anything else.
When I hook or lose a big one though the blood definitely gets flowing but it's not stress just adrenalin.
It's all good :)

Good topic tunaman, I seem to find it relaxes me. Yes can get a bit frustrating at times when you don't catch or you loose fish.
But Hey, Beats Working ;D ;D ;D

I sold my boat about 8 months ago and have only been able to fish landbased about 3 times in that length of time!
The missus has told me that I am a bit stressed out sometimes and get cranky easily...
When I get my new boat... everything will be A OK...
So I suppose fishing offers me peace and enjoyment!

fishing is fun. Boating with my lovely wife and our daughter is fun. Buying tackle etc is fun. 'Teabagging' our 18month old is really fun, and helps with nappy rash.
Ramp antics are fun. I say through gritted teeth. If my angry ant stepfather can take up Buddhism at 77, I to can rise above my emotions. One day.

I think you get the best of both worlds.
It is relaxing - meditation kind of way.
How many times have you lost track of time and fished through a crappy tide just because you were so "in the moment"
Also when you do hook up you get that adrenalin rush - all those good hormones and endorphins!
I would dare say it has as many benefits as a good roll in the hay with your favourite . . . . . . but in the long run less expensive :P :P

But what if you hook up, over dose on endorphins, then slip over,
land on your arse and slide down the bank into the water, then get up,
climb back up, fish takes a big run, then panic and lock up the drag, line snaps, then you lose balance and slide back into the water.
I think you would call that stressfull.
But this has never happened to me. ::)
But Its true to say, fishing is good for your heath, you see a lot more old and grey fisherpeople than you see in any other sport or hobby.
So study says, through a line in, just dont get too over exsited.

I'm a full time carer for my wife and if I did not got fishing I'd go just as nuts as her so for my very relaxing. Don't care where I go rocks, beach, outside or even in the Tweed. Catching a fish is a bonus but when I drop a big Jew or Tailor off the rocks I curse and carry on like a silly wet hen and put it down to experence

Mixing fishing with sex talk - better be careful when talking about throwing out the undersized ones. :)

You know its the only sport that gives you adventure, danger, sence of well being, and freedom. You cant buy that feeling it gives you when you walk out that door, and for me, all the worries of the world seem to just slip away.
And when Iam there fishing, time seems to be endless.

There's just something about being out on the water with only the sounds of nature around you that is so relaxing.
Last week, I took a day off to get away from work and recover from being a bit stressed. I called it a "mental health" day. It really helped to calm me down and get me ready for another week.
Oh yeah, catching fish also helps :)

When you're in the big smoke city like myself moved in it because "Forced to work and was born to fishing" I was original from N.Q.
Get escape from smoke for fishing is my medication to recharge my energy before goes back into smoke... ;)

I find I can get a bit over stressed if I dont fish enough, there is nothing like the early get up, & be at the bar at sparrow f@rt.
Once I am over the crossing I can already feel the tension slip away as land gets further away, I dont even take a phone out anymore 'cos I never answer it , even when it rings.
The best feeling is once we are back, fish & boat cleaned , ready for the next trip, tired but happy...................where's the beer.

One rabbit ! Spoken like a true fisherman. Cheers for that.
I for one can just sit down for the length of a movie, after that, I just got to get out and recharge, I think Iam just set in my fishing ways.

The only time I get stressed about fishing is when I am not fishing! 8-) Then life is very stressfull. >:(
But when I'm fishing I never stress about work. ;D
So it's good for me :)
My wife gets stressed about fishing when I'm not fishing cause I'm at home bugging her. :-/
My wife never stresses about me fishing cause when I'm fishing she plays the pokies and spends my fishing money. :-[
It's good when she wins - more money for tackle. ::)

Fishing is the ultimate relaxation on the weekend.
As onerabbit says, on the water at dawn, there is no better time of the day, even with the smell and sound of a 2 stroke!
Good luck Poodroo sounds hazardous!
