Hi dodge have a look at Dug Burts fishing tackle they have lots of fly fishing stock, some are cheap some are expencive there are other placeses too.
about lasting for a long time it is up to you even the most expencive ones they are more prone to accident and neglect, just find one that suits you
have a cast with few of them before you make your mind, I have one 7 and one 8 but I use the 8wt just incase, there is not much diffrence between them anyway.
good luck Vince.

G'Day dodge
The best sugestion I can give is to go to the seminar before you buy anything. These things are organised to answer all your questions & more. Talk to as many people as you can (especially the guru's) & I'm sure you will go home with a wealth of information to get you started on the right track. ;)
I've got to warn you dodge !. FLY FISHING IS VERY ADDICTIVE !!!!
See you at the seminar.
Fly'n'hi Chris.

G,day Dodge
As Chris said wait till after the seminar and you'll have a much better idea of what to buy, Alot of suppliers will be at the seminar so you'll be able to get a handle on both fishing and tieing gear. I'll be there on friday nite speaking about catching tuna so come and have a chat if you want. Crhris ain't exaggerating either, although i tend to think of it as an obsession rather than addiction. Addiction is such a nasty word
Cheers Scott

Welcome to the group David, I"m sure now that you've joined FFA you'll find it much easier to part with all your hard earned green without thinking too much about it. It's all a state of mind.

Scotto, I was looking back on some old posts last night and I absolutely pi$$ed myself when I found out why Jase was named the Golden Retriever. Looks like you guys are having some fun fishing up at Hervey Bay.
I was in Europe last month... did a bit of flyfishing for the spotted things (rainbows, browns, grayling and brookies) in Slovenia. Also got out and did a bit of pike fishing in a lake just outside of Amsterdam... in true "The Castle" style... how's the serenity, next to a major motorway, with a bunch of 18yr olds on the bank lighting up joints and listening to loud trance music. Dinner that night was great... a coupla Royale with Cheese and fries drowned in mayonaise.
Here's one of them pike... notice the flyrod in the background... try as i might, i couldn't get one of them suckers to scoff it down.
I'll catch up with you in a few weeks. Say hello to Jase for me. Cheers mate.
