I realize there's a `im new to ff` thread started here every so often so I'll try and refrain from asking the same old questions. However, I've finally got around to getting my gear together and tied up, gave it an uneducated bash at casting last night (in the dark ...) and apart from the occasional crack of the whip the thing actually went forward .. and in a straightish line (not very far at all ... but atleast it hasnt whacked me in the head yet).

When I get some free time (!!) I plan on going to see a casting instructor or joining up with a club, are there any instructors/clubs/fly fisherpeople in the ipswich (camira / springfield) area ?

I realize there is the BFF but that is a too far for me to travel to (WHERES MY COMMITMENT!!). If there is nothing/noone around, the other available choice would be to get a good book/dvd. Does anyone have any favourites ?

Most likely I'll get into the swing of it all just in time for a trip down south (forster - nsw) for my Dad's 50th ... where I'll promptly leave it at home and try to fit the surf/rock rods in the car instead :)

Isnt that glassys fishing park out that way, Ive heared Glassy gives some crash course casting tips if ya go there..Its a good idea that you get some1 to cheak out your rig to make sure that its set up properlly, Lines not on back the front,Right line, a whole fly line (dont laugh),,, before investing to much time in casting practice and just getting frustrated.A casting instructor (Harros the best) is a very GOOD IDEA, ,,, Worth every cent.... Good luck mQ
