Just to let all the tuna chasers know, there are a lot of baitfish hanging around the north and NW side of Peel island at present. They are getting plenty of attention from bonito and smaller longtails in the 7-8kg size range. Seems like the wind has finally stirred up some toona action in this part of the bay. Mike Connolly and Leon Parmenter caught a heap of nice snapper on plastics around the same bait schools the other day. My attempts at snapper on fly are pretty lame so far (all 30-34cm), but my best success has been on a shaggy dog style of baitfish fly worked slow and deep - pretty similar to the 'heave and leave' for the longtails. My only complaint is that I haven't been able to get out there for the last week >:( >:( The weather report looks pretty good for the weekend fishos though..

Cheers

Dancan,

Thanks for the report.

When is the Redland Show day??

I may give it a go on Ekka day. Peel Island is a madhouse on the weekend.

BOM said westerly dropping below 10 knots on friday arvo, might be a better option than the weekend for those that can leave work early. No idea when redland show day is.

Dunc,
Bloody typical.... they must know they are safe from me again!
'bout the only thing exciting I can report is nearly being cleaned up by a falling tree!
When you're out there next spare a thought for the bloke who's got nothing better to do than bash carp and cut firewood to pass the time!
