Checked the Jig hook photo album (http://www.midcurrent.com/spinster.aspx) the other day and got psyched to tie some of the patterns. I've used spinsters with good effect on murray cod but nothing else to date (one of my mates did have a 2kg yellowbelly completely engulf a 3/0 spinster though :o ).
Anyone here got any patterns they wanna share?
Here's a couple I tied after looking at the album.

Kilkenny,
Not jig hook patterns but these may be useful.
The polarfibre gives them a nice action.

Lowy, where do you get the hooks? i got a hand full off "the Champ"a couple of yrs back. Want to try for a mary cod this summer, 1 of the dams up the coast has a targetable population, I dont know any Murray Cod water but keen to nail 1, a nice Mary C will do.
I love that Prawnish fly at the bottom ;), be a great Flats fly if it swum nice and straight with its hook inverted,Ill be copying that 1 for sure. Nice tying. MQ

Quinny:We have the Eagle claw EC413's in 2/0 at present - and have ordered more sizes to arrive next month. We have had these for the last two years - after George released his "spinster" patterns and wrote a piece for our catlaogue ;)

Hi Guys

Ive also got some of the jig hooks in stock, they are the new Mustad black nickel, forged, Chem sharpened variety with a 60 degree bend. I have them in 2/0, 3/0, 4/0 and 1/0 is on the way. We use them for a lot of our SP fishing for snapper and have been very impressed.
I'll post some pics when I have tied some flies on them.
I also have just received stocks of Enrico Puglisi's EP fibres- very nice! I will also post a few pics when I get a chance.

Cheers

Duncan

This is a fat albert style fly tied on the mustad jig hook. It has a rattle in the tail on 80lb mono and the softdip head works as a weedguard. The black EP fibres underneath are tied in forwards and the folded back so that it mantains a very 3D head shape until you can get it dipped into the softdip.

These are flies I knocked up this arvo with the EP fibres - a couple of baitfish patterns and a charlie style fly

Hi Dunc,
The cod would really love that 3D fly I reacon.
Are the Mustads available in smaller sizes (ie 1's or 2's). I'll definitely get some of the 1/0's so give me a bell when they come in.
Hope all is well,
G

PS. Things are warming up... I can almost here the cicada nymphs burrowing towards the surface :D :D :D
