just wondering if transducers are interchangable between different brand finders ??? or does a humming bird finder need a humming bird transducer ???

Basically, no they aren't interchangable. Even different models in the same brands often need different transducers. There is the odd situation where one company makes 2 brands of sounder & the transducers are interchangeable (they plug straight in) eg my Humminbird Paramount takes the same transducer at my Zercom LPG 2000 (now called a TFX or something). Saved me buying a whole new sounder set-up for the new boat, I only had to get a display unit.

Some are and some aren't and is dependent on a few variables besides the manufacturer as many of the well known manufacturers (not all) use transducers made by one specialist company in the U.S

Hummingbird may in fact still make their own :o ??? as they do not list a Humminbird model at all but just about all other manufacturers.
