Does anyone have trouble with their sounder displays when the bottom echo gets close to the bottom of the screen. My Humminbird, when it’s in auto mode seems to be unable to adjust up to the next scale. I have had to put the unit into manual mode and adjust the depth manually. The sounder is supposed to be top end for Humminbird, but I’m not too impressed. I have recently had the sounder checked out by BLA and have e-mailed Humminbird in the states, their reply is that it is working as it should do. I would like to hear what all the other sounders perform like.

Robin,

I've got the model down from your and my autoscaling works fine.

Never had a problem with it - sounds like there is with yours though.

My biggest problem is with my Dad who watches the sounder when I drive. When it autoscales to a new depth there's always a big jump on the screen.

He excitedly says "Stop look at the big ledge there" or "look at the big hole there."

I've told him about 176 times but he still does it. Senility must be a real bastard - sorry Dad.

Robin,

I've had my Hummingbird Wide Eye sounder for the last two years and to be honest i haven't been impressed. I'm switching to Lowrance after fishin with a couple of mates and seeing their units perform.

Just a thought.

dont dismiss the huminbird your sounder is not top of the range the legends are and they are very impressive. Does it not change screens at all? Maybe try talking to your local humminbird dealer see if other do the same. Or you should be able to send it to bla and they will check it out for you and fix if under wananty or give you a free quote if they is a problem. I can say this because I have just done this with a sounder.

G'day rwells,
No comment on the scale problem but geez, could they have picked a worse spot to put all that depth/ speed/temp info? right where you want a clear screen
Cheers,
