Any ideas how to keep 60 metres+ of anchor rope organised without tangles?
I have this as my second rope for deeper anchorage, but whenever I start letting it out, I get tangles and knots.
How does everyone else avoid this problem? ???

Doc 666,
Got that new rig going, eh. Been out the front? Hope you haven't changed that boat name or we will all be doomed. [smiley=scholar.gif] [smiley=scholar.gif] [smiley=scholar.gif]I have a simple answer to your problem. Get yourself down to K-Mart or Target. Garden section. All plastic wind up type hose reels. They have a green frame & black hose drum & handle. I just looked at mine but could not see a brand name. No rust. These hold about 50m of 12mm hose so they will more than cover your needs. There is a metal version with a plastic coating but they are not as bulletproof as the plastic types.

Sounds like you have a rope problem. I have over 100 meters in the big rig and have let out some 75 meters and more. Never ever had a tangle.
Must be placing it in the well wrong or rope is too stiff ?
Me no no ?

I keep my second rope in a bundy tub, bit of a nuisance at times (the tub) but never had n e probs with tangles. guess it depends how you bring it back into the boat.
cheers.

If you dont have room for a reel, then youll have to put it in a container. But whatever you do DONT coil the bloody rope in a circle- it will tange up EVERY time. Coil the bastard in a figure eight!

Maybe that's where I'm going wrong...I'm coiling it in a circle and it all sort of collapses after a while.
Peterbo3, I been over to Moreton a couple of times to get the feel of her, and she went really well. Maybe after a while and on a good day I'll venture outside. BTW, I'm not game to change the name just yet, not that I'm superstitious... ;D
Thanks guys. I'll have plenty more questions over the coming weeks, so I appreciate your help.

Hi blaze
Nah he has been okay with me, to get him outta bed you gotta have him sleep at your place, the big problem there is everytime he opens his mouth either something comes out of it, or food is going into it. ROFLMAO, for a skinny fella he sure can eat, must have a talk to his mum about worming him.
cheers
joe.
