Jack
I am getting a 4.8m Tiller / 60hp 4stroke yammie built
been in a couple of boats now, stable/soft and can take the nocks. All I can say Col knows how to build them. Its going to be used for crabbing, prawning, fishing and creek racing.
I cannot wait

Pretty much standard with these changes
No paint -will end up scratching it up creeks
live bait tank
stowage tank
I ve upgraded trailer to carry more weight
board ladder
bench seats forward
It really will be set up as a work boat. I am not into fancy looks
I know a guy who has 1 already, depends where you live might be able to arrange a look. send me a PM if interrested

Hi Mackmauler,
The boats I think you are refering to are actually Ocean Cylinders. These boats were sent to Queensland Ships in kit form and constructed there. The Ocean Cylinders and Fishers are 2 completely different craft.
I purchased a Fisher 450 Tiller over 2 years ago and could not be happier. In fact this was the second boat in the new series (ie 450 and upwards) made. The build quality is second to none and before you make a post on this chat board, I think you should get you facts right.
Do you have an Ocean Cylinder or a Fisher? Ocean Cylinders WERE a naval archetict craft and the Fishers are Col Svenssons design.
Ocean Cylinders are no longer built but the Fishers are powering still and as a Fisher owner I was quite disturbed at your comments. Remember an Ocean Cylinder is not a Fisher, one is a punt with floatation on the sides, the other is a mono hull, reverse chined work of art that is bullet proof.
I hope this is clarified,
Tim

not taking sides here but ocean cylinders are still being made here is part of a review written by Gary Howard
Ocean Cylinder 6000 Series
Gary Howard.
OCEAN Cylinder is unusual name for a boat, but a superb description of the latest range of boats to be released from Queensland Ships. To fill you in a little, Queensland Ships are the builders of Fisher Boats and we have tested a number of these over the years.
They also build ocean going yachts and mono hulls, so there is a fair bit of expertise within the company.
A good twelve months or so ago, while testing one of the Fisher Boats, Col Svensson from Queensland Ships showed me one of the boats they had just completed for the Hong Kong water police.
It was like a big rubber ducky, only made from aluminium. The cylinders on either side of the hull were padded with huge buffers. A necessity no doubt to handle bumping and ramming in the pursuit of upholding the law.
if you have a read on here http://ywe.com.au/oc/default_ie.htm you will find its the mono hull that is built to naval specs
cheers
joe.

Have read with interest the comments made and can add a few facts.
I own Fisher Boats- always have -always will.
The Fisher 480 that started this page has nothing to do with Ocean Cylinders. Ocean Cylinders where owned by Qld ships that I unfortunately had a partnership in. They where naval arcitect designed, computor cut and then built by Qld ships. The Hong Kong police boats where a Mark Ellis design, computor cut and then built by Qld ships. No tubes only fenders. When either of the above happen the construction and design is controlled by the naval architects. Mackhauler if you have had trouble with your oc I suggest you contact Qld ships, as it appears they are back in action, rather then relate them to a fisher 480 as there is nothing in common. Regards Col
