I own a 1995 noosa cat 5.2m with 2/70hp yams. Does anyone out there own the same boat ? If so , how does it perform & handle in different conditions ? ;)

So do you find it acts a little funny in the bow? being a little out of proportion to the rest of it?

Actually back in about 94 or 95 at a Mooloolaba show there was probably one of the first of these models just out of the mould, an 8m version in Army trim and one of the first 3600's with stern drives.

The three of them run back thru the Noosa bar together and the 5.2 and 36 made real hard work of it. Especially the 5.2 really appeared to struggle pushing that style bow through the conditions.

The front ends of these 5.2, 5.5, 5.6's, 16's, 18's have never appeared to be quite right, either too much buoyancy or not enough.

Cheers, Kerry.

Don't have to do bar crossings in SA, so can't comment on that. I do know that you have to drive it fairly hard to get a soft ride at times. Loves punching into chop up to 1 1/2 m at full revs. Will porpoise a bit at crusing speed in glassy conditions, at 1/2 trim but levels out 3 1/4 throttel and trimmed out fully. With sea beam on you get a comfortable ride , but if the waves are steep & close together & you push too hard, it will drop a sponson occasionally. probably the worst running angle is with the sea comming from the rear quater but by trimming the motors and running one at higher revs , you can nomally get a good ride. No such thing as a perfect boat. :o
