i have just bought a second hand boat. it has a 27meg marine radio installed! but some low life has stolen the antanna! being an avid cb radio fan in the past which is also 27 meg i have a collection of antanna's. the one i was thinking of putting on is a 9ft stainless. i am just wondering if anyone would know if this would work since they both transmit on the 27meg frequency?

i think the marine 27mhz radios use specially tuned aerials for the channels on the radio. Id be byin an AE60 aerial by gme or the new one that they have put out recently. Check out the GME website. Dont qoute me on it but i think that is the case. The land based aerial may not stand up to the salt either.
Ne way hope that helps
Cheers

Hi Shano
From memory (used to play 27 meg once myself) its all to do with ground plane, if it was going on a tinnie I think it will be ok but if its glass it wont work as the ground plane of the marine arial is built into the arial
Is that as clear as mud, think you will understand
cheers
