I'm presently trying to get an idea of what electric outboard would suit me.
About an 8' dinghy, only to be used in our local freshwater river. The river on our property has some large (200m long) deep holes between 3 sets of rapids but also some areas of large submerged boulders and rock shelfs. These are avoidable during the day but at night may present a problem.
One of the main reason I'm looking at an electric is to get rid of the clutter of oars and also cut out the noise of oars in steel rowlocks.
Questions I guess are:-
1. what size motor for an 8' dinghy?
2. do these motors have the ability to tilt if you do run into a submerged rock?
3. new or 2nd hand?
TIA
