Are you talking new or secondhand? You could have a VERY nice rig for that sort of dough second hand and you would get a bigger boat than you would if you bought new.
Haines 540F/542F would fit the bill and be within your price range.

situations like the mad turks scare me away from second hand jobs, what sort of warranty could i expect from buying second hand?

don't bother with second hand... unless you know the owner of the boat and how they took care of the motor...

I think BIAQ dealers offer 3 - 6 months warranty, not much but you should find anything REALLY crook in that time but best to check with the dealer.
I wouldnt write off second hand because there are lots of good boats out there but you need to be careful and have things checked out professionally before you go ahead. Having said that the Mad Turk did this and look what happened :-/
Buyer beware is the old saying

garry have you been in the smaller ones, do you know if they are the same angles, just wondering if they would perform the same or similar? Has anybody been in the vision or the smaller breezes???

Hey piglet,
I had a good look at the vision as it was one of only two or three boats that would fit under my house. Thats good for storage of the boat not so good for ducking under to reach the pick if you are tall ( I am over 6ft ). The vision has an 18 degree deadrise and the breeze has a 20 degree deadrise I think. This may make a difference to the way each boat handles. Best to try a couple in similar weather on the same weekend if possible.
I bought a second hand Cruise Craft 575 outsider that was 4 years old, had it checked out by a well respected mechanic, and saved a little over $ 10 000 on the new price. Not all people who buy second hand will experience the unfortunate problems MT did.
Happy Hunting :)

Alex so what was your thoughts on the vision did you go for a ride? Wont be ruling out looking at second hand jobs as mine will be second or third hand when it is time to up or down size like you all say just some thorough checks and maybe second opinions on those.
cheers
