Hey Guys,

Recently come home from a visit to the boat show in Florida which was held last month.

Thought I would share some piccies of some of the boats over there.

I had a ball and love the country and it's boating industry.

Pic 1 = Cobia 23' Walkaround w/twin Yammies - Niiice!

And, I told myself I wouldn't, but I ended up buying a boat whilst I was there.

The price was simply too good to refuse, and I do love these boats.

Here is my new pride and joy, a used 2001 23ft Seaswirl Walkaround, with twin 135hp Johnsons, and a factory fitted hardtop.

It's a bit ugly in the pic, as it hadn't been detailed. It will look a lot better next time you see her. Plenty of work ahead.

It is on a truck as we speak heading to the dockyards to come home for me. It is due in around April 18. I can't wait!!!!

The show overall had a huge amount of centre console boats, all large, with multiple outboards. Insanely different to what we have here. A 23ft boat to them is a small toy, which would rarely be taken beyond the bay.

It would be very interesting to see a show in the northern parts of the country, to see the differences in their industry. I think up there they would have more of my style of boat.

The show also saw the unveiling of the new 300hp Four Stroke Suzuki, an awesome piece of gear, which obviously has a lot of application to the yanks.

Can anyone tell me why the second and last pictures did not come in that stupid little box?

Geez there are some nice boats over there .... and they would get you out to the fishing grounds in a hurry :o if you could afford the fuel bill.

What's the price of a new 23ft walkaround over in the states.

Darren,
The second and last picture are small enough to not need the stupid little box (scroll bars). The other pics are too big and require you to scroll in order to see them.

What was the cost to you to get the boat home if you don't mind me asking?

im still checking my pm's for my invite , but looks like you left without me! Oh well you get that! Just a question , when you say thay sold the boat to you at a good price, is there much difference after you convert the dollars over and pay for shipping, customs, taxman , ect as compared to buying say, something similar like a haines, cruisecraft , ect from here? And just how diffcult is it to get it here? Looks like a nice rig, make sure you post more photos when she gets here!

Hey Guys,

The price of a new 23ft walkaround such as a 2006 Seaswirl 2301 with 225 Yamaha four stroke at the show is around $52K US, and very similar above and below for other brands, depending on fittings. This equates today to around $72200 AUS, plus shipping and Oz Taxes. Shipping for this boat is around $25K Aus, plus GST on the whole lot, puts the price up to around $106k Aus. It is inevitable that there will be extra costs which jump onto that as well. The prices at Cunningham's Marine and the Seaswirl dealer's around Oz are pretty good comparably, that's the way i'd go buying new.

This is my second boat i've imported, (the first is to the left), and the only reason I do it is because I love the design of these boats, which are not available used over here. If we supplied what I was after, I would buy one here. It is very easy to do, just requires some research, finding the right connections, and it gets me exactly what I am after, rather than having to compromise with something I don't really want.

Garry, I did see all of those boats, but a 46ft? (I can't remember) with four engines (especially Verado's!! :P) doesn't excite me all that much. I couldn't even comprehend the cost to buy or run that boat.
